Yeah there's a few bones in that graveyard. Coleman, Langmack, Taylor, Fittler and even the great Emperor could not make the transition.

It's an old cliche that good players don't necessarily make good coaches ... no better example than Wally - no disrespect intended as the guy is a legend. If you read his latest book you'll understand why his time as a coach didn't reap better results.

Interesting how Taylor and Fittler both started out with a bang as coaches, but then lost their way. You can put that down to learning the softer skills of coaching ... and that takes time to distance yourself from your own playing career.

Guys like Terry Lamb have taken the right path ... serving an apprenticeship in the lower grades. He may surface as a first grade coach in the coming years.

Ricky Stuart was a pretty good player and did alright at roosters, won a premership although you could say the team was built for him by Gould and he kind of stuffed it all up at the end, also look at the sharks now....

But guys like Bellamy, Stuart, Hasler all took about 7-10 years from when they retired from the game before taking a head coach role, i think that is what lockyer should do as well if he is serious. Go be an understudy for someone like Bennett or Bellamy and then look at a head coaching role after 5+ years as an assistant.

Worst thing your club ever did was to let go Ennis, Hannant, Stagg and Boyd to sign Israel...... Absolutely pathetic.

Israel is good but now you's have nothing in the front row except for Kenny who's solid but no star.

I cant even for the life of me think who ur hooker is at the moment.

Stagg was ur glue.

And Boyd was a huge talent.

Calling for Henjak to be sacked is harsh fully fit u's have a decent roster, but with all your injuries you's are lucky to have 17 to field a team.

Dude we didn't let Ennis, Hannant, Stagg and Boyd go to Sign Israel. Whats pathetic is that you think we did.

If you can't think of our hooker than you are an idiot and you obviously should be posting here because you know nothing about our club. McCullough is an amazing tallent and is already earmarked as a future origin hooker.

Taylor and Ennis possibly Stagg would of stayed if we knew Hunt (the money we left aside for him 400k) wasn't going to flip and go to AFL. We would of upgraded their existing contracts. Hunt left it so long and the Broncos were so sure he would stay that the other players had to find another place or settle for the same money as what they were one and probably not then worth.

Boyd left to follow Bennett he made that quite clear.

Hannant is a money hungry whore, he is asking for $450,000 form the broncos or titans cause he is "homesick" but he is on $300,000 at the bulldogs so you can't say he is homesick or he would be willing to sacrifice a bit to come home or at least seek the same deal. My bet would be he thought he was going to get back into a Brisbane side desperate for a decent prop and would pay for it. now he has limited himself to 2 clubs that neither will pay that much for.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal that the Queensland and Australia front-rower shopped himself to both the Brisbane Broncos and Gold Coast Titans for $450,000 a season after he told the Bulldogs he wanted out of his $300,000-a-year deal because his family wanted to return home.

The Sunday Telegraph has also discovered that Hannant asked for a bonus for making the Australian team just months before fronting Greenberg and asking for a release.

"He asked the club if he had a rep bonus in his contract," a Bulldogs source said.

"But he did the deal himself without a manager and did not have a clause inserted. The Bulldogs told him they paid him overs when they signed him in anticipation of him becoming an Australian player."

After returning from the tour, Hannant, who has never had a manager, signed powerful player agent George Mimis to help broker a deal.

In the end Izzy would of made some difference but Hunt set us back in recruitment, Clinton was out of form and then left, Sis being on the outer with Henjak are 2 other reasons why our pack isn't what we anticipated at the start of the year. If we had Hunt and our current full strength backline Ivan wouldn't even be in this mess.

I agree, I hope Lockyer has a year or 2 off before even contemplating coaching a team of any sort. Assistant to Wayne or Bellamy would be superb IMO.

What a stupid idea. Thinking of sacking a thread 5 weeks into a season when we have 5 automatic picks out through injury and another 2 out for a week because they were late for training. Any team with injury concerns like us would be struggling. You can't expect a team filled with 10 players under the age of 21 to beat in my opinion the best team in the competition.

And i am a Broncos fan i have been since i can remember watching league.

Yeah but he needs help, a specialist defence coach. But if a quality coach like Bellamy became available i'd be absolutely waving him in. But i'd keep henjak as an assistant. Or not.

I still can't understand how a team as renowned for its' professionalism as the Broncos went for Ivan Henjack as coach? I always thought Johnny Lang would have been a great successor to Uncle Wayne.

Now let's see ... first year coach gets a team one win away from a grand final.

Second year, the club continues to loses a mass of rep players, has the worst injury toll of the competition (including an Australian centre, No. 9 and No. 7) and the coach's head is being put on the chopping board.

My take on Henjak is he's in the process of building his coaching team. Having the right people around you (that suit your style) takes time. When he gets these people in place things (and when we get key players back) things will improve.

The more excuses you make for Ivan the worse the bloke looks. Lets give him time, soon there will be no decents players at the Broncos because they don;t want to play for the little turd.

Last time I checked getting a team one game from a grand final in your first year of coaching wasn't an 'excuse'.

That's called a dirty big tick on your resume.

The other points I made aren't 'excuses' but 'facts'. It's like all these clowns that get on this forum, giving crap to players who come back from major injury and aren't performing like superstars. An injury is a 'fact', it is not an 'excuse'. Guaranteed you've got plenty of 'excuses' for yourself if you don't perform well in some part of your life, but can't quite extend the same courtesy to others.

I'm not defending Henjak, but he needs time. In my opinion he is a brave individual ... following in the footsteps of Bennett, and it will take time to mould the team into what his style.
