If ANabbout really the best option up front in the first 2 games, then we were always going to struggle.

This is a bit simplistic and verging on puerile but id be developing our own style. Remember a few years back Cameroon developed a calypso style. We should develop a style that suits us. Seriously, id be targeting aspiring AFL players at a young age. They are tall, skilled, aggressive at a contest and everyone one of the curtis' can kick an oblong ball fifty fegging metres. Honestly, some of these international fairy soccer superstars would sheet their nickers. Just play fair but tough which IS IN OUR DNA, is obvious in all our major football codes and most elite athletes in Oz demonstrate with aplomb.

Simply we need to identify kids, and develop the ones who can become our hard nosed strikers.

It's got to be done when they are young. Develop our own strikers.

However, this takes a plan and money.

No doubt the best soccer players are lost to afl and even league. Imagine the skill level someone like Barba could have developed if he played soccer.

No doubt it is the world game. Also no doubt it is not hugely supported in Australia, for all sorts of cultural reasons.

And for nearly opposite reasons league is hard to follow in most parts of the world.

And the big American sports, Baseball and Grid Iron, have their peculiarities and cultural fan bases that make them hard to follow for most non Americans.

I get that coaches say unpopular things in all sports, but do you think his complaints after the game were not unusual in world soccer, but are pretty unusual in Australian sport?
