True I guess, I just hope we don't offer him fb money. We need to save the big coin for proven spine players
Madge won’t allow this to happen.I have it on good authority that Madge offered LM a tiered contract whereby the salary for LM in the 1st 2 yrs of the contract were a lot less than the final 2 yrs as a protection to the club in case he were to go off the rails.Madge is judicious in assembling a squad & optimises the management of the salary cap.

Im glad this Latrel bullshit is over and am happy the club finally showed some balls and squashed this crap before it made us a laughing stock again.
It was embarrassing that anyone seriously thought an elite player would leave an elite club and sign with cannon fodder like us.

Put him at fullback and we don’t have a natural game from him and we don’t have a winger iether ..Thompson can’t play wing well ...anyway so Thompson at fullback ..JAC on the wing We can knock $300k off the Lattrels $$ to make sure we get him...I reckon he would think he’s worth $700k I’m sure I saw Stephano was costing $800 k ..so if we get S this year that’s it...If not only then can we look at another player...

Has he ever complained about playing on the wing? He bobs up anywhere he wants anyway....can you imagine the scheming going on with JAC and Benji ? Thompson is one of the most driven players in the NRL and will be counting down the days to get to challenge himself at a higher level....if he gets the 1 again i think he'll step right up
fkn yea

Corey is a good solid fullback and I’m happy with him there.

The fox is an astute purchase for a backline bereft of threat and vigour. We need another strike attacker.

And a solid kicker desperately. Is that you Benji?

If the forwards keep their mojo and continue their upwards diagonal, they will be a feared and dominant pack by the end of the season.

On his day, ja is about the best forward in the game. If he can get some consistency and stay injury free, he’s capable of anything. I won’t hear a bad word about Alex. Key signing with strong whispers he had other options with much more fancied clubs.

You explained that well my mate TT ...Best we didn’t get him I think...long as we can get JAC

We dont need a winger.
We need some classy forwards and Brooks needs a FCKEN HALFBACK to control the game whilst he sets up attack.

Latrell Mitchell is considering a shock switch to rugby after his advisors sounded out Rugby Australia about the prospect of joining the 15-man game.

With his NRL options rapidly dwindling, the Herald can reveal an approach was made on behalf of Mitchell to RA to gauge whether there is interest in the NSW and Australian centre. The enquiry could be the first step towards a change of codes if rugby officials believe he is a genuine Wallabies prospect.

The Roosters and Tigers have pulled lucrative offers from the table that would have secured Mitchell’s long-term future.

The premiers want to get the 22-year-old off their books as soon as possible, despite the fact he is contracted for 2020. The Tigers also became frustrated after they felt their offer was being used as a fallback option.

In an online column he penned for SBS in May, dual international Timana Tahu said Mitchell should be a priority for Rugby Australia.

“For the next high-profile player that they wanna look at, throw big money at, I’d be looking at Latrell,” Tahu wrote.

“It'd be a massive loss for rugby league, but for rugby union, he'd bring a new audience, new sponsorship and help change the Wallabies.

“It's perfect timing because there are two or three years for him to get his game knowledge up … the next World Cup is in 2023

“In terms of his union success, I just see his kicking skills, as well as his passing skills, being valuable. He's tall, he’s fast, he’s big — he’s made for rugby union.

“In my opinion, if you were at Rugby Australia you should be doing everything you could to get him across …

“He could be a dominating centre in an Australian Super Rugby team, plus he would be an attribute for the Wallabies.

“I think his profile would bring a lot to the Wallabies too, on and off the field.”

The Tigers have stated they would consider returning to the negotiating table if Mitchell expressed a desire to join the club.

However, any offers from other teams would be contingent on contracted players being moved on. The Cowboys have already invested $6 million into Valentine Holmes to play fullback for the next six seasons, while the Titans would have to shed several big-money stars in order to come close to Mitchell’s asking price.

If Jai Arrow moves immediately to South Sydney, and the Rabbitohs are given salary cap dispensation for Sam Burgess’ retirement, an opening could occur at the Gold Coast.

Alternatively, South Sydney may opt to shift their focus from a forward acquisition to Mitchell to bolster their backline.

The Tigers have drawn up their own contingency plans after the Mitchell camp conceded an answer may not be provided before Christmas. The Tigers have attempted to distance themselves from Josh Addo-Carr after initially expressing an interest if he became available.

Addo-Carr met with the Storm in Sydney on Friday morning to discuss his future amid growing speculation he was keen to return to Sydney. Melbourne officials said they expected him to honour his two-year contract, while the NSW and Australian winger spoke to the club about his family situation.

The Sharks are prepared to pay some of Matt Moylan’s freight if he is prepared to shift to Wests Tigers, while other players of interest to the club include Anthony Milford, Scott Drinkwater, Zac Lomax and William Kennedy.

After previously paying "overs" for players past their prime, the Tigers are prepared to wait until a suitable marquee recruit becomes available.

This is the most important point in the whole article. Don't blow your wad too early. If you want marquee dollars at our club you have to earn it.

Let's not forget Latrells manager is also Kalyn Pongas manager. He was also pulling this same shit when nobody would offer Ponga 1.5mil. He's a germ

I reckon that is okay assuming his attitude is good. How much was Hass paid ? We paid top dollar for Suli and I think he was worth it if he had a good attitude.

Its a total contradiction of your earlier point which I agree with.
Moses Suli was a braindead decision ranking as one of our worst procurements ever. Fkn useless, lazy, fat tub of sh!t he was...Hass has nothing to do with this.

Stand by your convictions. You were right the first time. The above post is dribble only.

I'll stand my my convictions in that signing juniors on good money can be a smart decision. Hass to me was clearly worth top dollars prior to playing a game in the NRL. Suli was also worth top dollars based on his ability. His attitude was the problem but now he is probably worth at least what we were paying him when he was bludging with us.

Every signing is a risk.

I'd rather punt on a gun junior than sign guys like Reynolds and McQueen. I don't think we were so stupid for purchasing this kid from Parra but let's see what happens.

Do you have the feeling that we are stuffing up our cap now compared to the problems we've had in the past ? I honestly feel that Madge is sorting this mess out. We've had a tonne of plodders in the pack for years but now we look to have some impact. Our backs are crap but going for Latrell to me was a smart decision. We need big damaging fast outside backs and a fullback would be top of our list.

Stefano by all accounts is the real deal. Much rather we roll the dice with this kid (on a salary that isn't breaking the bank) and can build him up at our club. Its clear we aren't signing any established first graders so we need to snag them just as they are making their debut and focus on retaining the good ones (e.g. Garner and Twal)

The silly money we have spent on players who don't contribute is obscene. Idris, Ballin and McQueen were probably 3 of the dumbest signings in our clubs history thanks to Jason Failure. Packer went alright for a while so I'll reserve judgement until end of 2020. Mbye and Reynolds are in same boat imo. They really need to start putting in big performances on the field in 2020 or idk if their price tag is justified

p.s. I'm hearing Dragons have re-signed Lomax, they are just in a cooling off period
