Souths game

Just on Simms, how disappointing has he been for us day in day out since 2020 ? Other supporters cannot believe that he isn’t our best forward due to being a origin player through this period. Great warrior who can still get up for the odd game but can’t for the grind of NRL.
As much as it pains me to say but you are probably right. Was a favourite player of mine for a long time and i have defended his form in the past but i think his best days are well and truly behind him. Was outstanding during origin last year and i thought he would bring that to club level but he didn't. And i was especially disappointed in him when Hook made him captain last year and his form stayed much the same.

Will be interested to see how he goes under Bellamy but my gut feeling is that the injuries he had earlier in his career and father time have caught up with him.

I'll always remember the game at Toowoomba in 2018 when we blew the Titans off the park. Sims ironed out Konrad Hurrell several times after they had an altercation early in the game. I reckon Konrad is still having nightmares about that day.

Like you say a "Warrior" at his best, but those days are in the past me thinks...

Woodsy will never change. Hated this signing and still do
Luckily he only signed a year's contract with the Dragons. Hopefully he won't be extended.

I don't think that he was totally keen to come over to us viz.

Great effort by the lads and good to see local juniors Lomax, Lawrie and Amone have great games. They have copped it deluxe and proved how good they can be on their day. Ben Hunt is playing out of his skin this season. He is just everywhere. That sin bin was very unexpected and I did not see it coming at all. Penalty fair enough but how did that warrant a sin bin? Geez Saints have been handed some really soft sin bins this season whilst others cop nothing. Terribly inconsistent or should I say consistent for Saints that of they go a little bit past the line they cop a sin bin guaranteed.

It is a shame they could not pile on more points or keep them scoreless second half as the for and against is going to really hurt the Saints and they need as many points as they can.

Their next 2 games will be huge tests but if they cannot win more of their remaining games then they don't deserve to be in the 8 and not playing Panthers or Storm is a good run. All games should be winnable so they should be able to win more than they lose.

Well that was a shock, but I’m very pleased. Lawrie and Lomax have to ensure the performance last night is their new minimum effort going forward.

I didn’t understand the Cash McCullough reference earlier ?

When McCullough came out of the tunnel he was carrying his new born son who they named Cash. I just thought it's a great name, Cash McCullough, like some gangster out of an old black and white film noir or a cartoon character.

Had a bit of a chuckle after reading that Souths won the last 50 minutes of the match 12 - nil .

Perhaps that may had been some small consolation to the Rabbit supporters I don’t know , but it was the Dragons who collected the 2 competition points . ☺️
I'm sure Manly fans are happy as well, they won the first 70 odd minutes, Cowboys only won the last 10minutes, wonder which coach is more happier?

I'm sure most fans will ignore the second half but if I'm honest it was a lot like what we have become used too and did sour the victory albeit one I am grateful for and didn't really see coming.

Souths did not turn up until the second half from which time their coach's rocket and superior talent overpowered us. We didn't give up but it just goes to show how we have a long way to go on our journey of strengthening our team.
Exactly, the 2nd half was 12 NIL, that's 12 NIL Hook

The first try had nothing to do with him. He was defending the other side of Burgess who played the ball. Cook went to Wood's side and went over the top of him. It was Wood's tackle to make and he didn't. For the second one it's Lawrie's job to mark Cook at the play the ball. Sim's wasn't tight enough to Lawrie and Murray ran into the gap where Sim's should have been. Lawrie has to stay with Cook when he jumps out of dummy half and it was Sim's job to pick up Murray...

May I just add if I haven't said it before - Mat Thompson is the worst commentator I have ever heard and has some of the worst takes on rugby league I have ever heard
Have always said the Fox coverage of League is superior to that of Nine ...Having had to sit through their coverage of Origin One you get to appreciate Fox even more
Wazzas call of the Origin was on a different level to that offered by the Commercial network

Bloody media. They didn't actually win 50 minutes of the game. They had an opportunity to score with us down to 12 for almost the first 10 minutes of the second half and couldn't go in due to our defence. I'd say at a minimum we won the first 50 (they didn't go in until the 57th minute so you could even extend that out further). The reality is they won the last 23 minutes 12 nil. They were scoreless for almost 3/4 of the game.
