I said at the time of the Bulldogs final try that it was the clearest example of obstruction all year but it was surpassed by the Manly try last night. Sometimes the try will be disallowed even though the decoy runner makes no contact with the defensive player, simply because he stops in the line, thereby impeding the defensive player from making the tackle. In this instance, the decoy runner both stopped in the line and made contact with the defensive player. Foran only found an opening to the line because the defensive player had been obstructed. Even in 1989 when spear tackles were applauded, knock ons went undetected and obstructions were a rarity, it would've been penalised. As others have said, an oversight by the on field referee is forgivable because he has to make an on-the-spot judgment, but for a video ref to make such a decision cannot go unpunished. All those accountable should be dropped for an extended period and sent to a re-education camp in Siberia.
Manly have receive overwhelmingly favourable calls in four games (Parra, Roosters, Eels and Tigers). Reminds me of the Tigers run in late 2011 where every call went our way. Your luck will change.
