me thinks something better be announced soon or Gus will be just another "spin-doctor"!

Without trying to sound like a pessimist outsider bagging the club, I can't help feel the Gus has been doing more damaged to the club & Western Sydney as a whole with his fight against the AFL than good. I do really hope he proves me wrong though & does make an announcemnet soon.

I said something similar when he 1st came onboard. He's a great talker but is unproven as an administrator. Our recruitment doesn't seem to of changed & the sponsor delay has led to no 2012 jerseys getting sold. Time will tell but the jury is still out.

Really guys give him time, he inherited a club in a mess with back loaded contracts thanks to Leary and Elliott, I have no concerns at all about sponsorship or recruitment and I personally think he is doing a great job

If you take a step back and look at what he has done so far the biggest thing to me was getting rid of Elliott, Georgalis, Carl Jennings and bringing in Clearly, Fairleigh, Brennan and Ronnie Palmer,
Moved both Waterhouse and Civonaceva on (both well past there prime)
Michael Jennings attitude seems to have turned around after last year
The change in attitude of our players is also noticeable,

I think after Gus returns from holidays (he is on hols if you read his twitter) and allstars duty for channel 9 he will announce sponsorship

Sponsors are in place as I said at end of November last year. Just closing negotiations then and I think they'll be announced before Newcastle trial if not sooner.

So why leave it until 3 weeks before the season to announce it? It's strange to miss the busy xmas period at a push now is the time to announce it. Footy is back on Sat night people's interest is high yet no one can buy a jersey. Not smart

our club was a mess from top to bottom.I was one who was sure about his appointment but after seeing him changing thing from ground up meaning changes from the juniors first he is putting the building blocks in place for many years of success.it a tough climate out there.I have evry faith in both Gus and Shaun

I LOVE having Gus as our club front man. Could not be happier. He has not done anything to harm our club at all, so Swamp, as an outsider, you are incorrect in your assessment.

My concern is the silence relating to our major sponsor. Gus has said it will be before our first official hit out. So, next week? P.I. starts back up on the 10th. Will it be then? I agree that merchandise must be suffering. Membership would also get a shot in the arm with some news as well IMO.

Because it wasn't finalised. Pretty simple.

Agreements can be made in principle but it takes ages to get the fine print etc sorted.

And at times if you announce too early while that is going on it'll impact the negotations.

I was probably relating more to his constant rants about AFL & his non appearance at certain meetings where he was supposed to be representing the club. So as an outsider I am ill informed, but it is my perception.

I maybe completely incorrect but Phil Gould is Penriths General Manager of football operations. He isn't supposed to attend CEO meetings despite what the Telegraph will have you read.

Yes but we no longer have a football CEO, Gould is at the top of the pecking order as far as football operations are concerned and should therefore probably be attending the CEO conferences.

Call him a CEO, GM, President, Minister for Rugby League or whatever you want. He is the top of the football ops at Penrith and should be attending those meetings. However it could be construed as a conflict of interest still being a Channel 9 employee so instead the 2IC attends in Goulds absence when he picks and chooses the meeting he wants to attend.

The real reason he is called a GM and not CEO is because of the structure of the Panthers Group which rugby league is just one part of. All of the Panthers clubs have a GM who answers to the Group CEO (although he was made redundant prior to Christmas BTW).

Who knows? It could be Volvo, Gus was promoting them a while ago. He sold his car and was given a Volvo for a while?

Flash also has a Volvo too which is in his deal. Whether it is Volvo themselves or just a dealer could be 2 different things though.
