Spoon watch 2023

Just been reading the team tips for this round on the Fox Sports website.
Looks like the Dolphins will be missing a few for their game against the Tigers.
Have a feeling the Tigers will win this one and jump 2 points behind us.
Then read the team tips for Dragons v Storm.
Ryan P a strong chance of being included in the 17.
Not liking the look of round 25 at all.

Sad how if not for the bunker Saints would be 8 in front and Tigers would have sewn up the wooden spoon. Saints would be 3rd last on for and against and deservedly so as I feel they are better than the Tigers and Dogs. Not by much but have been more competitive in most matches than them in 2023. If Carr was in charge against the Dogs they would be equal on equal points. The Board really believed that Hook can get the team to beat a rubbish Dogs team and in the end may deliver them the spoon.

The Manly/Parra games may be what hand the Dragons the spoon. Well played Bunker. Job complete.

Yep was just about to post the same

Round 25 Early Mail
TIGERS v DOLPHINS
Connelly Lemuelu and Kenny Bromwich are both unlikely to face the Tigers having failed HIAs in the loss to the Roosters.

Felise Kaufusi is also in doubt with a hamstring injury.

Jeremy Marshall-King’s season is over due to an ongoing shoulder injury.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow is also in some doubt due to concussion.

How good are the Tigers….
Their premiership winning coach was sacked by the club, then sued the club for sacking him, then came back after years away to review the club, sacked a premiership winning coach Maguire , began the search for a new coach to only hire himself then after all that they sack you again!!

FMD what a circus and I thought our mob was badly run.
They deserve the Spoon and a dummy….

The Tigers sacked their coach after 1 bad season no matter who he was. Saints gave Hook 2.5 season of crap. Hook would not have lasted 2.5 season at the Tigers that is for sure. I still think Tigers have higher standards set than Saints when it comes to performance. They may seem like a basket case but are chasing success more than Saints in the last 10 years. You cannot fault them for trying. Dogs not far behind in terms of madness but are chasing success.

It is just my opinion that Tigers are better in terms of chasing success. I am still seething that the board Saints have let this dud season happen. They waited for the rot to well and truley set in and then make a move. I really wish Saints were more brutal on poor performers and demand success not mediocrity which has been the case for the last 10 years.

You are right Slip. Both the Tigers and Bulldogs have at least tried their hardest to achieve success. Both those clubs have not tolerated poor coaches and players and bulleted them out but in saying that they still remain at the bottom of the table and I can only attribute this to either too many guys in the coaching structure are trying to take control or that the coaches are just outright not first grade standard. They both have bought players who you would think could lift the teams but unless the coaches can get the the sides to play as a team and improve their defence levels, they are not going to be a worry for the better teams.

We know what our problems have been and hopefully we don't fall for the same trap as the other two clubs. This is our chance to at least fight for a top 8 position next year - I would be happy for that, so Flanno please get it done.

If you check Sheens record in England it was similar to how he has been treated here. Sacked at a few English clubs after a season or 2. He has gone downhill big time since he left the cows. It was a huge gamble.

You watch them lift now and win this week against a depleted Dolphins. If so the Spoon battle is about to get very interesting. I am so nervous about winning the dreaded spoon. Never experienced that before and never want to. Thanks to Hook and the crap board.

Although they deserve it more than us IMHO, If they can turn around a 68 point differential in the next three weeks they only need to win two more games for us to get the spoon.

They play the Dolphins who will be missing half their team this week which they should win. I think they'll lose to the Roosters next week but then they play Manly who will have nothing to play for in Round 27. A win here will more than likely hand us the spoon.

I fear we've been bunkerised once too often.

I agree that more than likely Wests will get a win against the Dolphins on Saturday.
Highly unlikely they will beat the Roosters in round 26 who have finally found a bit of form.
The final round 6pm Friday night game v Manly at Brookvale will be extremely difficult for them to have any motivation to win.
This Saturday is also Brooks send off last home game.
They will up for this one, but not convinced they will have anything left in the tank after it.

Spoon can easily come to Saints. Tigers win 2 and Saints play Warriors, Storm and Knights who can easily put 20+. Saints draw is tough. This weeks game is huge. Please uncle Wayne, do us a huge favour and smash these Tigers.

How the hell did Tigers beat the Cows 66-18 in round 12. What a crucial result that ended up being. Even if Tigers won by 10 that game, Saints would be 100+ in front on for and against.

Match officials will be celebrating hard if Saints get the spoon on a job well done. I have never seen such a huge impact in a teams season as this. You can understand 1 or 2 dud calls in a whole season but this season has been 1 or 2 a game. Disgraceful.

Tigers beat Dolphins 24-23. Dolphins bloody gave away a penalty about 2 minutes from full-time enabling Api to just kick the goal after hitting the top of the crossbar. This means Tigers only one win away from being on equal points with us so if we get done by plenty in the last three games, we get the spoon. Although the Tigers do play the Roosters next week and they are wanting a big win to get into the top 8, so we will see.
