One thing we can all say about Brian Smith: He will bring at least one parramatta affiliated player with him... whether the player is current or past... we have had 3 mentioned so far: Morris (missed out)... Lyon (manly likely)... and Delaney (heaven help us)...
If we do get Lyon it will be because of Brian Smith... not because of Newcastle management...
We already know that Smith is a big fan of Bedsy (and of course Johns)... he prefers fullbacks with size and height however (what does this mean for Thiaday)... but I heard he is also a big fan of a big tough forward pack... I think the first signings on his agenda will be props and second rowers... forget the backline until he is happy with the front line...

Rubbish what do you base this on???? Who is off contract for them?

Morris has already signed with the tigers, Lyon is a possibility though totally unlikely and Delaney - when has he been linked with the club?

Wade K has size and height? What pot are you smoking? Neither does Joel Reddy.

This is so ridiculous I wont even bother commenting.

Well look at past fullbacks: Burt, Schifcofske, Mikinnon... I never said they had to be huge... but he has never been a fan of the Wessers or the Bowen... midget fullbacks...
And what I meant about the front row signings... I think if there will be any signings... the first player on the agenda will be someone to replace Craig Smith... "coach" smith... well power in the front and second rowers are of utmost importance to him (look at players like Hindmarsh and FuiFui)...
Certain articles ON THIS BOARD have listed Lyon, Morris, and Delaney as players Newcastle were intresed in... As you said Morris has signed with Tigers and Lyon is Unlikely... Delaney... I don't know but I read it on this board that Newcastle were intrested in Him and Hannay... but I don't know for sure...
And most coaches when they switch clubs bring at least 1 player with them to the new club... just something that happens alot... I was not saying it was for certain... just a hunch

Id perfer Delaney over Walker.

Hmm I cant say I agree with that one!

Walker has some potential.. Hopefully Smith doesnt pick him each week even when he isnt peforming like he did with Peterson this year..

Walker should be cheap.. And who knows what could happen really.

how good are the rabbitohs this year with their signings. im sure if they can sign some of the people they have we can as well. sure there is the money factor, but it will probably be johns last year, who wouldnt want to play with him.... knights management is the worst in the league without a shadow of a doubt.

I'd imagine Walker's previous problems would prevent him from getting that kind of loyalty from Smith.

I think Smith would have Walker hanging round Joey waiting for that Inside ball that Lockyer provided for him at Brisbane.... I would be happy wit Walker at the club, wouldnt be that much money either

He wouldn't be a bad pickup, but considering with players we could have had, had our management been more organised initially...

If Walker keeps himself in line, he'd be a handy pick up, but if we sign both Doogs and release Midley, he won't have an experienced defensive centre to play outside of, could be worse than Carney or Carmont was initially.

I think that we have to think about signing player who are good in defence as well as attack.

Carney, Quinn, and Carmont are rather liabilities in defence.

Quinn is definatly not a liability in defence. And Carmont has got a lot better. Fairly solid on the side now.

Carney is poor positionally, but hes getting better.

Carney is a strong tackler (as is Quinn) but both come in off their wings too much.
Whereas Carmont positions himself better (and rushes up in defence) but alot of his tackles are broken off by the attacker.
Midley is a legend... wraps up the bloke and the ball successfully.

NOTE :: THE BELOW POST IS 100% RUMOUR - NO BASIS MORE RELIABLE THAN A BLOKE IN A PUB

Luke Walsh- 3 Year deal with Cowboys.

I know he is off contract in 07 but with the latest signings the knights don't need him.

Will be a shame.

I think its hilarious. You guys are going to be eating your words ina few weeks, because the deal is as good as done. And walshy is telling everyone so. SO ENJOY the HUMBLE PIE
