The team is starting to gel pretty well, we won't win the comp (I think) but if we can keep this up, maybe a chance to get into the 8, but hard not to be happy in our direction? :)

Shit, maybe even the coach survives for another week?😂

Robbie Farah throws support behind unlucky Liddle.

The Wests Tigers stunned a depleted Panthers outfit on Friday night and no one at the joint venture was happier than this 24-year-old.
The Wests Tigers extended their lead thanks to a lung-busting run from Jacob Liddle, who went the length of the field after stopping a grubber.
Jacob Liddle’s career has hit roadblocks at every turn since he made his debut back in 2016, but after season-ending shoulder and knee injuries and several stints in reserve grade, he’s starting to show why he was hailed the heir apparent to club great Robbie Farah.

The 24-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance over the years but hasn’t been able to do it consistently due to a raft of debilitating injuries that have forced him back to the drawing board every pre-season.

This was the year he was meant to explode, but he found himself dropped to reserve grade in Round 6 and seemingly behind young gun Jake Simpkin in the pecking order.

“When he got dropped, I told him that the only thing he can do is go back and be the best player he can be in NSW Cup to show that he deserves to belong in first grade,” Wests Tigers legend Robbie Farah told NCA NewsWire.

“To his credit, he did that and never dropped his head. He started the year well, but he tapered off a bit so it was probably a kick in the guts to be dropped, but the way he’s reacted has been great to see. I think he’s come into the side a better player.”

Liddle scored two tries in a comeback win in NSW Cup in Round 8 and was rewarded with an NRL bench spot the following week.

“I went back and worked on my game in Cup, especially my running game because I wasn’t running as much in the first half of the season,” said Liddle, who has started the past four matches.

“I worked on that and a few other things, and I’m really happy with how it’s going.”

Liddle’s runaway try was a turning point in Friday night’s game. Farah has played a key role at the club this season, and his work with Liddle is starting to bear fruit with the hooker playing with a lot more confidence.

It’s little wonder the club re-signed him earlier in the week for a further two seasons, and he repaid the faith with a brilliant 95-metre try that brought the Leichhardt faithful to their feet as he starred in the win over the previously unbeaten Panthers.

“He’s worked hard on getting his body right, and he’s starting to show that on the field. He’s gaining confidence with every week that goes by,” Farah said.

“We saw that he’s still got the speed, and he looked like a winger or a centre flying down the sideline. He’s still continuing to develop his game out of dummy-half with the little intricacies around the No. 9 position, but he’s a kid who’s working hard and is willing to learn.

“It shows a lot of mental toughness because it’s never easy when you’ve had as many setbacks as he has. There have been a lot of challenges along the way, but he’s a good kid who is dedicated and always working hard.

“It’s great to see him earn a contract extension because that shows the club believes in him.”

Liddle’s solid month of footy hasn’t gone unnoticed, with coach Michael Maguire singing his praises after the Penrith game.

“He’s had a career that’s been pretty tough, but he’s had a really good pre-season and he’s really guiding the team around well now,” he said.

“His passing is on the mark and he’s making the right decisions. That comes in time, which I was well aware of.”

What do people think the Farah influence on our form reversal has been?
The players seem focused for longer periods during games now.

Hard to argue, he hasn’t been an influence.

But changing AD to centre and Mbye to 6, Liddle has come good and the forwards are working really well together has all helped as well.

Pulling on a Wests Tigers jersey for the first time was a unique experience for Ken Maumalo, but it just felt right — according to the representative winger himself.

Following an emotional farewell with the Warriors, Maumalo linked up with his new team on Tuesday morning and is excited to make his club debut on Saturday night against the Melbourne Storm.

The powerful winger has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal that will see him feature in Wests Tigers colours until at least the end of the 2023 NRL season.

Since making his first-grade debut in 2015, Maumalo played 106 NRL games for the Warriors as well as 13 international matches.

“It feels different to put this jersey on, but I’m just grateful to be here,” Maumalo said in his first interview since joining Wests Tigers.

“I’ve just arrived and I think I look good in these colours and I’m excited for the change.”

It was an emotional farewell for Maumalo when he lined up for his final game for the Warriors on Sunday afternoon.

The representative winger scored a hat-trick to farewell his debut club — making it six tries against Melbourne in 2021.

Funnily enough, Maumalo will the Storm again this weekend after being named for his Wests Tigers debut.

“It was a different experience. I didn’t think I was going to get the chance to play [for the Warriors against Melbourne],” he said.

“I shed a few tears after the match in that last moment. I’m not a man that would shed tears in front of the cameras, but everything bottled up at once and it just came out.”

Having played under coach Michael Maguire at the representative level, Maumalo is excited to reunite with the New Zealand mentor.

“I’ve had my experiences with Madge for the Kiwis,” the winger said.

“He’s played a huge part in me playing for the Kiwis and he’s really looked after me.

“When the opportunity came up to join Wests Tigers, I was all for it.”

Maumalo is looking forward to playing his part in the rich history of Wests Tigers and is confident the club is heading in the right direction.

After meeting his new teammates, he can’t wait to make his club debut.

“I want to add my piece to the puzzle. Hopefully I can help with what we want to achieve at the club,” he said.

“I believe this club has a rich history and it’s on the verge of making good things, and I can’t wait to have success with this club.

“I’m looking forward to playing with everyone here. I knew a few of the boys from Samoa camp and I can’t wait to rub shoulder with everyone.”

Just a lucky guess, if we are looking at a fullback as back up or to take over from Adam Doueihi, Reece Walsh has some aggression in his game too.
Should be a selector, had Reece Walsh on the radar before he was born. Might start up a go fund me to hire this fella as a tigers scout.

Id be extending Doogie, the jet, stef, Lucy and sight unseen Hastings amongst others.

Cini needs another year and game time.

Having sleepless nights over the fate of Mikeale. Really competent when he wants to be. A shadowy and menacing figure in these days of high stakes recruitment.

Great to see that Packer is gone end of this season. Interesting that Mikaele is unsigned past 2021. Likewise Cini.
