Yeah sort of, turf toe so very similar stuff. Yeah it all depends on fitness but he'll be a few weeks behind where the guys are currently so he'll have to catch up pretty quickly to be ready for round 1. I personally don't think he'll make round 1.

They do not call him ferrai for nothing......

Yeah I imagine the top half of his body will be in peak physical condition but he'll need to get the km's in his legs as well as combinations with the team.

Only issue is he is a little small..... Gus reckons he is a shoe in to play first grade this year at some stage. And would of last bar injuries.

I also see Gordon at shops. He looks SUPER FIT

We used 29 players in first grade last year, of which 21 are still with us in 2016.

Of those 21, only 8 were not named in this Nines squad - Mannah, Peats, Takarangi, Watmough, De Gois, Wicks, Alvaro, and Pritchard - all either injured or forwards.

We've also included new recruits Cornish, King, Tanginoa and Woods, along with rookie French... and probably didn't have much room to move if the NRL wanted us to have more of our top 25 guys (e.g. Foran, Gutherson, Scott) in the mix?

It may. The further you progress in the competition the more money you make which means that you'll be able to spend more money on off-field staff the next season and training facilities which will make your team better, you hope. So there may be something in winning the premiership, but seeing as we've only had 2 Grand finals after 2 9's competitions the sample size is too small for us to definitely say if the 9's has anything to do with winning a premiership or not.

And don't forget, winning the 9's means your sponsors get better exposure which means the value of your sponsorship increases and you can potentially charge more for it and put more into the coffers of the club, therefore being able to spend more on non-cap related expenditure.

Is Takairangi injured?

We have taken this tournament way too seriously in the past - and paid the price last year big time - and still didn't even win it.

Big names are being left at home (except the ones we are obligated to send) which is great to see.

bit underwhelmed with that squad, may not make it out of the group stage.
But good for some of the young fellas and fringe player to get a chance.

Can't see the Roosters or the Storm even remotely taking the tournament seriously. Bellyache doesn't even normally turn up.

I hear that the first squad that was submitted for the 9s was rejected by the NRL, it probably explains why it was released so late compared to other teams

I heard Jennings was originally named and the NRL insisted we put Morgan ahead of him in order to give the tournament some decent "depth appeal" for the punters...

My info was that th coach wanted to protect as many players as possible, after losing Kenny Edwards and others last year in the 9s he didn't want to and any of the top 5 at least. Apparently you have to include at least 1 top 5 player, and a certain number of the contracted 25. That is why the NRL would not accept the first team list, not enough top 25 etc

Players generally recovering from off season surgery would not be risked in the high tempo of 9s, that is why Taka is not playing until the trials, all about preserving bodies by the coaching staff

- Craig Garvey

- Kerrod Holland

- Sam Kasiano

- Shaun Lane

- Jarrod McInally

How do the NRL approve this team and make us play some of our top line players?Greenberg having his influence again. We are playing our 5/8 and the NRL's no.1 try scorer ..... Just to name a few whilst the dog put forward a Z grade side.

You only need to play one of your top five paid players. Theirs is T-Rex and ours would be Corey Norman.
