So who do we know has pretty much re-signed (albeit not official) on top of the 20 we have for next year?

Of the 20 listed above, it's hard to see Salmon, Will Smith, Hoffman, Davey and Sivo (probably Taka as well) all genuinely part of a Top 20 competitive NRL team. You can probably carry two or three in your Top 20 max.

But no room for Haynzy

The club has a fair few more re-signings to announce. It was unofficially known that Lane signed months ago yet was only announced today. There was an article with Terepo earlier in the year where he stated that he re-signed for 2 more years but that hasn't been announced.

Also Leleisiuao was signed for 3 years initially and is pretty much guaranteed to be top 30 next year.

I am hearing that we may announce today the re-signings of:
- Pritchard
- Niukore
- Gower
- Mahoney

Eels re-sign four players

The Parramatta Eels Club is pleased to announce the re-signing of David Gower, Peni Terepo, George Jennings and Kaysa Pritchard ahead of the 2019 season.

Eels forward David Gower has re-signed for the 2019 season as part of a contract which includes working one day a week in the Club’s Well-being and Education department focusing on Parramatta Eels Under 20s team & Junior Representative Programs.

As 2019 will be David’s last season playing in the NRL, he has commenced his transition out of football and is completing his Certificate IV in Elite Athlete Wellbeing Management in preparation for his future role at the Club.

Prop forward Peni Terepo and winger George Jennings have re-signed with the Club on two year contracts, along with hooker Kaysa Pritchard on a one year contract.

Parramatta Eels Club CEO Bernie Gurr said, “We take well-being and welfare of our players and staff very seriously, and our Club’s existing Wellbeing & Education team is highly regarded.”

“We’re delighted that David is going to be an extension of that team, he is highly respected by everyone at our Club and will be a valuable resource as we continue to invest in our Football programs.”

Similar programs at the Club have been successful in the past, with former players Luke Kelly and Jeff Robson now working as Career Coaches at South Sydney Rabbitohs and Wests Tigers respectively.

David Gower said, “I’m committed to giving it my all for the Eels in 2019, and while that is my main focus, it’s important to consider life after retirement.”

“I’m grateful to the Eels Club for its support, they helped develop a plan to ensure I have the level of support necessary to play in the NRL while making the transition outside of football easier for me and my family,” added David.

Gower, Terepo, Jennings and Pritchard will return to pre-season training this Thursday 1 November.

So I got 2 names wrong, but expect the others to be announced shortly.

EDIT: I was in the pub when I got the mail and didn't remember that Gennings was one of the names given to me.

So that's now 24 players signed up with Zero genuine leaders amongst the lot of them...

You'd expect Mahoney, Niukore and GL to be in the squad...that's 27 without a leader in sight.

Gowie 1 year and Penishands 2 years no surprise. Kritchard 1 year is probably about leaving pathways for Mahoney/Schneider. But Gennings 2 years? I hope it’s not backended
