I think Australia are certainly capable of winning the cup this year, and especially of home soil. They must be considered favourites. They are the #1 team in the world. Warner, Smith and Clarke are world class and a few of their other batsmen can perform on any given day. They've got the bowlers for sure. Faulkner's a gun.

Read my other post for clarification

I don't doubt you can win but Aust were red hot favourites last time it was held here and failed badly.

I don't think it's a great Aust team by any stretch the bowlers are hittable, Clarke is under a cloud Haddin is an old man and no good spin options

The pace attack is potentially excellent but sorry like every other team at the moment there are a few possible issues. In saying that 2nd favourites imo

The series continues... Guptill out first ball of the match with a ridiculously lazy waft outside off stump.

To think on radio sport yesterday he thought he was in great nick and just wanted to go out and have some "fun". He's a very good player when going but too unreliable at the moment.

I don't love a Guptill and McCullum pairing. They are looking to play similar roles that are too similar.

Guptil is playing like a guy who is over thinking it, struggling with the pressure. Cluttered mind.

Taylor likewise, but he's trying to scratch his way to a score and that goes against his natural instincts.

Taylor's game plan looks to be similar to what he did in the '11 World Cup vs Pakistan, which is to scratch around for an age and just survive until about the 35th over. And then throw all caution and go ballistic trying to slog every ball over the mid wicket fence.

Problem is it's a pretty hopeless plan if he gets out before that point for a very slow 30.

Unfortunate, but not necessarily a bad thing IMO. Always want to win, but these games are just warm ups for the WC. We know what the likes of Williamson/McCullum can bring. Now we get to have a closer look at what Taylor/Elliott/Anderson can bring under pressure.

You'd think Taylor and Guptil were both coming off three centuries in a row the way they seem content to throw it away without thought.

Maaaaan.... Corey Anderson is such a strong guy... The ball just flies off his bat.

It's that same sort of power Chris Cairns used to show... But he doesn't have that slightly awkward looking technique that Cairns had...

The dude looks country strong...

If I were to compare it to someone I'd say maybe Lance Klusner... Without that backlist ofcourse...

That Klusener backlift was legendary!

Anderson's spot is secure, its really important that Elliot remains consistent here after that useful 40 odd
