Sri Lanka tour of NZ

Good comeback from the bowlers. Thirimanne's dismissal I think highlights how bad test match techniques are these days. Pushed out way in front of himself to a stock standard line and length delivery and essentially forward defenced it face high to mid off. The Mathews dismissal, that was brilliant bowling, the rest though their methods of dismissal are appalling.

I'd say NZ might be just on top. Wouldn't have any hesitation in saying that if one of our 5 wickets was Sangakarra- I feel like he's due…in general, and against us. Without him, Sri Lanka are the West Indies.

Good effort by Bracewell- not the bloke's biggest fan, but superb bowling today.

Game in balance.

Time for someone to stand up.

Sangakarra's the worry - undoubtedly an all time great, and seems rather determined

Again, our bowling attack produces the goods, but the batsmen let the team down - some poor dismissals, and while one has to love what McCullum has done, dismissals like yesterday should be remembered, Taylor too. And FFS get rid if Rutherford, if they can't find a way forward, Daniel Flynn would be much better

New Zealand have been unlucky this morning. Sangakkara is playing and missing on some brilliant bowling from Trent Boult.

And God no, never Daniel Flynn again. Thankfully I think his goose is well and truly cooked.

lol @ the Flynn debate again.

Personally I like Flynn and he'd do better than Rutherford, but he is also getting on a bit.
It sounds odd but I'd give Guptill a crack again if it were my call

If Flynn's in, Fults and McIntosh should get ready too. Maybe Brent Arnel to come into the wind if we truly want some plodders in our team.

Michael Bracewell... he bats usually first drop doesn't he? If only he was an out and out opener, I'd consider him. That seems to be the issue, there's players who can bat 3-6 in Bracewell, Craig Cachopa (although he's out given he's now a Kolpak eligible player), Colin Munro, in all seriousness I can't see where the next decent opening bat option comes from. Papps is now a little long in the tooth and not having a good year for Wellington, with that in mind I just don't see a specialist opener anywhere of any note.

I said "if they can't find a way forward" with respect to Flynn - who is 10 times the player Rutherford is - at the end of the day the best openers in domestic cricket remain Flynn, Papps, Fulton, and How - unfortunately the likes of Bracewell, Raval et al haven't kicked on, and Guptill for me is in the Watson league - very good in shorter forms unequivocally ordinary test cricketer...

But yeah, our bowling attack really is well grooved, giving little away - Craig is not as bad as many argue either

Geez imagine bowling to that.

Lets say

3. Lara
4. Tendulkar
5. Punter
6. Kallis
7. Sangakkara (wk)

or swap em around.....

Even McGrath, Warne, Ambrose,et al would not like to do that to often.
