If I remember correctly Ken was sent up to the West Indies on his debut stretch and got justifiably owned by Ambrose and co. Got a big string of ducks and 1's

Hamish on the other hand belted that 170 odd to start off, so he's actually gotten worse.
Surely his goose is cooked now, he just isn't really up to it

Think it was pre Ambrose - Garner, Marshall et al

We are pretty much stuffed here, batsmen disappointing

Yep you're right, decided to look it up just for kicks.

Sent out to open on debut against Marshall, Garner and Holding.... good luck with that.
No surprises he got a king pair.

Probably the greatest pace attack ever... And he was not really an opener

The only hope is that Williamson does a McCullum and Neesham and/or Waitling hang around as they did for McCullum

Last test until England in May, but who would we be looking at to replace Rutherford? Not exactly a long list of potential candidates

Either a veteran or converting a middle order bat

Perhaps, or Bracewell, Cachopa there are others. Bruce Edgar should be a good judge

I feel that you need somebody with a bit of an old head to accompany Latham at this stage.

I'd go for Brownlie although he isn't really an opener.
Cachopa would probably get owned at this level particularly in England.

Seems to be no love to Guptill at all?

Guptill is an option, I suppose.

Think he has proven he is. A flat track bully tbh, good for short stuff but owned by decent attacks

I suspect they will take Rutherford and Brownlie, and perhaps anotherr

Disappointing start to 2015, Williamson aside we have little consistency ( apart from those that are consistently bad)

I wouldn't write us off yet... Craig, Bracewell, Southee & Boult is a pretty decent tail

Lead now 90, if these two stick around and get that to 150 then things get very interesting.

253/5 a lead of 118 with 5 wickets in hand.

Really shut up shop towards the end, but they blunted the new ball so that's good.

Will need at least another 100 to really make a game of it. Can't afford the "follow a good day with a horrible morning" that happens so often when set batsmen have to start again the next day.

150-200 runs more to come, I hope. If Williamson and Waitling can get set tomorrow, a win is even on the cards. Hats off to them for today's effort.
