Just because Des might get the flick at the Dogs does not mean that he wants to come to us that is all supposition.

He might be happy to have year off or go to England who knows.

We just keep posting trying to make these things look real and then express disappointment and blame the club when it doesn't come to fruition.

We create our own self fulfilling prophesy's and the journo's run with it and fuel it a bit mindless at times.

CANTERBURY chairman Ray Dib has guaranteed Des Hasler will be head coach next season and plans to censure club legend Steve Mortimer for saying the Bulldogs were “losing our DNA’’.

Some iron-willed directors want to extend Hasler’s contract to the end of 2019, while others want Hasler gone.

The drama will come to a head at a 4pm board on Friday as the club attempts to resolve an issue that has split the ‘family club’.

Dib was upset that Mortimer broke ranks to publicly to claim he would stand down as a director should the club re-sign Hasler.

“He was out of order,” Dib said.

Hasler declined to comment on Thursday. The Daily Telegraph understands he wouldn’t accept an extension offer that carried stipulations about finishing in the top four each season. Four members of Hasler’s staff have already been forced out.

The Daily Telegraph understands Dib wants to re-sign Hasler but other directors, including Mortimer, want the coach to quit.

“We’ve got unfinished business,” Dib told The Daily Telegraph. “I would like to see Des there for at least 2017, absolutely, if not longer.”

Dib refused to admit the contract dispute had become messy.

“When you say messy, what are you referring to?”

Dib was then told the contract to Hasler was offered, agreed on and then withdrawn after the season. The contract had even made it to Hasler’s lawyers.

“I understand what you are saying but, to be fair, the coach is the most important employee of any club. You know what we’re doing? The board are having robust discussions. We will consider the options,” Dib said.

On Friday Dib will speak with Mortimer, who has threatened to walk away from his position if Hasler is handed a new contract.

Dib, can you please change this statement to '..the coach should be the most...'

The last thing we need is for our peanut to think he is the most important employee in the place.

Note to Dirk...

Some NRL clubs are thinking that the 'coach is the most important employee' in the place...

It's good to see we have challenged this mainstream thinking and taken the contrarian view ... going with the much aligned 'half-wit and committee' school of thought.

Welcome Matty... you may be right... hope not as we need a change.. Either way enjoy the banter here.

Cheers Tru saint,

we defiantly need a change as you said.. We need a coach that will play to each players strengths as well as one that will get the best out of them. We need specialised coaches (halves coach etc..) As well as not having jobs for the boys

Sources at St George Illawarra say nothing changes on coach regardless of Des Hasler decision. They're committed to Mary and new structure

First time posting on this forum,
Would just like to say that i think des would be a great fit for the club, but in the most likeliest case we will under up still with mary.....

Welcome mate.

You'll quickly learn to stay away from JubileeBoy, TruSaint, Minh and the like. And Mickeylane, who consistently feeds us the worst predictions.

Otherwise enjoy.

Nothing will change at the Dragons as they don't want change.

The board are flat out disgraceful and the we listened to the fans why make up such bullshit when you clearly didn't.

Why on earth would Mark Coyne put himself in the firing line for the sake of a token spot on a bullshit commitee filled with people who i have either never heard of or have been failures where ever they have been.

Next year will be exactly the same and I will care even less then i did this year.

Yep, Paul McGregor will be coach of the Dragons next year. I don't know whether he will last the whole season, but Des Hasler won't be leaving the Bulldogs to become coach of the Dragons. Please don't waste your time visiting the forum tomorrow hoping for Hasler to be appointed the new coach of the Dragons.

I'm taking a break for a while oversees & want to go old school without internet etc. Yes, a good old fashioned holiday - the way they're meant to be.

16 premierships tells me we are successful as well as f**ked.

The amount of rumours that surround our club are just a very sad indictment of our current situation.

The successful and well run clubs have very few rumours associated with them and any that are only relate to upgrading of the roster or management etc.

In respect of our club, the rumours are attached to us like limpet mines on a boat about to be blown up and scuttled.

Any rumours that do come true about our club are promoted as upgrades and turn out to be extra ballast which only enable us to sink faster.

For many of our fans our situation is like a horse race.

Every year in their mind we start as the top weight and favourite to finish in the placings.

Unfortunately they forget, every year our horse is always the same horse, it's a gelding running against younger stallions, it's got the same jockey, trainer and race strategy and the only thing that has really changed is the horse is a year older and we decided to put extra weight in the saddle bags.
