Stalled and stagnant Sydney clubs

Read an interesting article by the Panthers group the other day saying they expect pokie machine use to half or more in the next 2 decades and how they are now investing in non gambling related revenue generation opportunities for future proofing. I think as the oldies die out and the newbies are gambling online the days of the traditional LC are numbered and any NRL club relying on $1-5mill a year from them to cover their losses could be in strife.

Every club is doing similar though. No one will go broke

1000% Opinion, not proven fact

Contrary evidence is that the game went from a peak of 20 clubs in 1998 to a low of 15 clubs in 2004-2006 yet the overall tv audience and tv value has kept growing, and the game had a higher total crowd attendance in 2004 than in 1998 or 2019 when there were more clubs. Go figure.

No but less.

Crowds last year up there showed it too.
Not much less, the all Qlnd derby on sunday only rated 20k (about 7%) less in Sydney than the previous weeks Sunday game featuring two NSW clubs. The rd 1 Friday night game featuring broncos rated better in Sydney than the Rd 2 Friday night all Sydney club game. I'm not sure your theory holds much water lol.

I've heard this many times and never seen anyone able to produce definitive evidence. It may be true, it may be partly true for some or it may not be many lost to the game, no-one can show any data to prove one way or another.
Open your eyes

Ian Heads quoted a drop of around 30% during the cull of clubs in 1999.

Just an insignificant club that should be swallowed up by its new money neighbours
Haha!!

yeah mate. Sunderland is so insignificant that they have a modern 21st century 49k capacity stadium with average attendance of 31k in the 3rd tier of English football that also blows ever average attendance of NRL clubs out of the water apart from the Brisbane broncos.

It would be good if our game could average 31k attendees through the gate. We've got a great game, but we need more supporters.
