Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

One of the best stories/struggles of the original series was Luke resisting the dark side. He came close when he cut off Vaders arm, but that's when his journey reached it's final cross road. It's final test. He stopped and announced himself as a Jedi. The entire personal trilogy for Luke was about him becoming a Jedi and he finally did it. We all fell in love with the characters and what they became because of their journeys. Han and Luke specifically. They can't ruin that now just for shock value.

Having Luke turn to the dark side 30 years later makes the original trilogy pointless. I expect a stupid swerve like that from WWE.

No, there are plenty of other ways they could have twists in the story without blowing the integrity of the original series.

Personally, I hope Kylo Ren's origins have nothing to do with the original three. At least not being the offspring of any of them.

I think Kylo will have some link back to the original protagonists, his ambition to complete what Vader started (if we're to believe the trailer) seems personal. Drawing a long bow, though... we don't know much, and the trailer could be intentionally misleading.

I think a rumour that initially had some traction, but is seemingly been forgotten lately might be the key to the story. The rumours was that a clone of luke (made after he had his hand cut off in empire) may be a villian, and that the original Lukes lightsaber is somehow key to the events of the story

A clone of Luke, brought up by the empire, may be forced sensitive, susceptible to the dark side, and/or been raised to follow Vaders Legacy

I hope not. That sounds like way too much of a reach. Like they're desperate to tie in the original trilogy to the new ones.

I don't see why it needs to tie in that obviously. They've got the original characters, light-sabers, tie fighters, x wings, the droids, Chewy. Come on, it's plenty.

*Keep the core elements of the original characters the same (i.e. good guys)
*Have Kylo Ren as a new threat with his own unique origin (just because all the Jedi and Sith died, bar Luke, doesn't mean the Skywalkers are the only ones who can use the force now)
* Once we like the new characters, hopefully as much as the original three, end the stories of the original three. I.e. Kill, Han, Leia and Luke once we like the new guys enough.

I don't think they all actually need to die. Han should definitely die in this movie, hopefully doing something stupidly heroic or heinously murdered by an antagonist. Luke probably should die eventually but I personally hope he lives and dies in a similar way to Yoda. Leia, meh, don't think she has much relevance unless she's been trained by Luke.

Nah no more clone stuff. They botched that concept in the prequels IMO. People are still pissed that they cut Bobba fett's character off at the knees by making him just a clone of his father.

Covered in the books. The Thrwan Trilogy IIRC. Cloned from his severed hand found at the base of Cloud City.

See also Dark Empire (??) Where the Emperor was cloned and Luke goes bad.

And giving him a kiwi accent. Tem Morrison's voice sounds fairylike next to Jason Wingart's!

I hope they keep the plot simple. Good guys turning bad is not a good story for a franchise and sends a pretty f**ked up message overall.

My guess, there's a renegade rebellion group (perhaps a small few who survived the last war) who have been secretly planning their revenge in a galaxy far far away.... they have grown in numbers over the years, learning the dark side, and are now ready to take on the regime. Han, Luke and Leia, after the war, went their own separate ways, and it was decided for the safety of their child ie Han's and Leila's, they would secretly keep their daughter hidden away, just like Luke was to protect anyone ever finding out about her existence and power. Luke, similar to Obi Wan, wanted a more simplier life, and went into hiddening - also simliar to Yoda.

Now the dark side are attacking and the good guys need to come together to fight them... everyone is still in contact with each other except for Luke... who has gone renegade and who no one can find... except R2D2.... they need to find luke to not only fight the dark side, but to teach his nephew the ways of the force....

now to me, thats a nice simple plot to follow while we all enjoy the starships and troopers gunning each other out.

Episode 8 will be similiar to Empire Strikes back, only this time, its Luke training Rey and not yoda training luke...

bascially follow the same theme and storyline that made Stars 4,5,6 such a success - different generation - but same problems repeating.

my guess is chewy dies because i didnt see him next to han in the trailer at the end ... Chewy is like Hans body guard. Where han goes, Chewy goes. So I figure somethings happened for him not to be in the scene with Rey, Han and fin.

Don't think it'll be finn becoming a Jedi?
Sought off hinted at in the trailer, plus he is seem using a light saber in the trailer. His last name has deliberately been held back for a reason, bringing the possibility that may be lando's so, and there are even theories that he may be lando and leia's son (leading to him being force sensitive).

Even with hearing all these theories and possible spoilers i still can't wait for this f**king movie!!!

Thats probaby how it starts, he trains to be a jedi but it turns out all along its Rey with the powers and gift.....good for all the feminists out there and something different I guess.... who knows, I just dont want to see Luke, my children idol ever turning bad. That would be a f**king disaster.

eitherway, you're right. CANT WAIT FOR THIS f**kING MOVIE!!!

Anybody game enough to guess the Skywalker offspring?

There has to be one! This is Star Wars! Story of the Skywalkers!

My bet is Kylo.

Aren't the books/ expanded universe no longer considered canon after the announcement of the new movies

Correct but it doesn't mean that they won't borrow from it.

I will bet dollars to donuts that Rey and Kylo are Han and Leia's twins. In the books it was Jaina and Jacen.

Given that Kathleen Kennedy has recently said it going to continue to tell the story of the Skywalker family unless Luke f**ked a black chick then Rey is the gifted one and she is then the focal point of the trilogy a la Luke and Anakin.

That makes sense. I'd buy that story.Similar age, slightly similar in the looks department to Han (Kylo) and Leia(Rey).

But who on the dark side would have been around to train Kylo? as long as its not luke i dont really care..

And i change my pick on who dies - I think its Han. Harrison Ford has never been a fan of the star wars triology, and given his age and health, its probably a safer bet to have him off the cast early. I'd put money its the climax at the end of the film, with Luke entering at the same time to take over the lead for the next episode....

Word on the grapevine is that The Force Awakens is going to be better than The Empire Strikes Back. I don't believe it just yet but the fact the same fella had a hand in writing Episodes 5 and 7 does lend some weight to that claim.
