Jedi over Empire? Interesting choice.
As a kid I didn't really like empire cause Luke lost the fight against Vader.
As an adult, I don't care that Luke lost against Vader, but I just still love rotj, I love how Luke struggles with his anger towards the end, and used anger, an element of the dark side, in defeating Vader and then being able to pull that anger back and not convert as the emperor wanted. Then of course at the end when Vader turns good, it's just great scriptwriting. Not to mention the battle of endor is one of the greatest battles in movie history. And even at the very beginning of rotj, when you have gone from empire, where Luke was pretty crap in the Jedi arts, to the start of rotj where you see Luke dressed in black and is basically a full on Jedi doing the choke on those pig things and then dominating when rescuing Han from jabba.
I could go on and on about why I love rotj. But basically it's because Luke is a badass mofo and no longer a little whiny bitch.
Adywan cut?
All fair points. The ewoks were cool also, but I'm surprised you left out Leila. All flesh and skin, just the way Jabba likes it. Yeah buddy.
Watching Empire strikes back now, amazing how different the special effects looks or should I say how crap it looks.
I actually agree with this one.Jedi over Empire? Interesting choice.
I actually agree with this one.
On the whole, Empire is probably a strong film in terms of its evenness, but ROTJ for me had more memorable moments and much more compelling encounters.
Vader is a big presence in ESB, but the Emperor, the music that goes with him and the scene with Luke in the obs deck are just so f#cking creepy and compelling in Jedi.
His look, dialogue and delivery are just so spot on and make for probably the most memorable moments in the entire series.
Empire is a great film, but there's nothing in it that matches that for me.
There's only one Return and it ain't "of the king" its "of the jedi".
