I think she is Luke's kid not Han and leia, in particular because leia mentions to Han she lost both him and Ben I think she would have at least hinted at a second child. Also co spidering they hint they Ben was seduced by the dark side while on a solo mission I doubt they would abandon there last child they would be more likely to keep her close. I also think ren would have recognised rey and used they knowledge will interrogating her to throw her off her guard.

Had a blast from start to finish.

IMO Max Von Sydow's character has a role to play in the next film. He knew who Kylo Ren is and happened to be on Jakku.

Could he have been placed there by the person who dropped Rey off to watch over her Obi Wan style? He just happened to be killed because unforseen events overtook his initial mission.

Seems odd to cast such a big name actor for a cameo. It wouldn't surprise me if scenes with him and Luke were filmed at the same time to be shown as flashbacks in the next movie. We know from ESB Hamill knows how to keep his mouth shut with twists and Von Sydow is an old pro.

While it seems obvious I believe she is Luke's daughter, however her mother would be the interesting story as it would have to be a new character since the EU was reset.

I still hold out hope that Thrawn and Mara Jade will make there way into the Disney universe. A stand alone film featuring either would be excellent fan service.

Just got home, enjoyed it but would like a few more views to really absorb it fully.

Kylo's mask came off a scene too early imo, would have had more impact if he took it off just before smoking his old man.

He Has not been missing for thirty years they even state this in the movie. Luke begins a new Jedi academy and begins training Jedi again until Ben solo betrays him and he goes into hiding. The movie hints he has been missing for roughly ten years. Rey and Ben being twins creates a massive plot whole firstly how does neither know the other exists and secondly as we see in the original trilogy force uses can sense each other when they are close by Ben who has been trained by luke from presumably a fairly young age since luke has been missing for quite some time stands in th damage room as his sister and can't even sense it is her? That's without even getting I tot he fact Han and leia interact with rey and wheel they are desperate to reunite with Ben don't say anything about there missing daughter?

As far as I was aware, Lucas was asked repeatedly if Anakin was an immaculate conception, he always shrugged it off or changed the subject.

Is Anakin's full parentage documented anywhere?

Fair enough...im watching it again on xmas eve...i'll look at the finer detail next time around..

Three reasons why I think Rey is not Han's and Leila's daughter

1. Han would have/should have known it was Rey when he met her with the falcon. To me (assuming he did), it doesn't make sense for him to ignore this point to Leila when Rey was taken by Ren. Surely he would have shared this this information and they would have been more concerned about bringing back their children rather than talking only about rescuing Ben.

2. I'm sort of repeating point 1. above, but again when Han was talking to Leila it was only about Ben. There was never any reference to a missing twin. Their only concern was to bring back their son. If they has a daughter hiding in Jakku, surely they would have figured out that Rey was theirs and be concerned for her safety was well.

3. When Ren was taking Rey away, it was only Finnn concerned with getting Rey back. Han seemed more interested in simply watching Ren from a distance. There was no immediate concern for Reys safety by Han, which would have been a little odd had that been Han's daughter.

I'm making the above pts under the assumption Leila and Han would have known they had a twin, unless somehow Leila was unconscious when she gave birth and Han wasn't around either - a huge stretch to the imagination if that was true.

Rey is Luke's daughter. The question to be answered in VIII is who did Luke shag or have a love interest with for this to happen. I'm sure in future series this will become a spin off love story worth finding out about.

it isn't necessarily that rey is lukes daugher, but maybe luke sent all the training jedi to jakku for a mission and its possible she is the result of a bit of holiday love. or it is a complete coincidence. nothing is set in stone.

you mean f**king holiday love in Jakku by two renegade Jedis who were training the ways of the force in the wrong parts of their body? not impossible, but highly unlikely.

I think most peoples plot prediction ie Han dying, Ren being a past student turning bad, and a likely relative of Luke/Han has been pretty accurate so far.

As someone mentioned, I guess the formula is to keep the story line simple enough for the next generation of kids to watch and enjoy. A story line with too many twists and turns isn't likely to captivate a 10 year old, which I'm guessing in the primary target audience.

With that in mind, a simple to story line for the next episode - Luke tells Rey he's her father, starts training her to be a Jedi like Yoda, before a climax where Luke faces off with Ren trying to convince him to return to the light, only to he's killed with Rey watching which then sets up the finale for episode IV.

Mean while Po and Finn are having their own separate adventure against the Empire with lots of fighting, and maybe a new planet like Endor where another Ewok type race is stumbled upon and a separate spin off series made (just like the Ewoks!) - simple proven formulaes that you know works, so why bother reinventing the wheel and risk failure. Just look at the Marvel & comic series.

Watched it Friday night in 3D and thought it was great.

I have my own nitpicks with the film but mainly just a little disappointed with the writing talent behind this movie and all they came up with was another New Hope (still loved the movie regardless) I think it will become the weakest movie in the trilogy but once episode 8 and 9 release I think the movie will become more clear once the puzzle is complete.

I'm thinking Rey is either straight from Luke's sack or she was conceived in the same manner Anakin was.

My theory is Ben Solo thought when growing up and training with Luke hearing about how powerful Luke and Anakin were that he would be the next in line to carry on that legacy but then comes along Rey and she shows much more potential than he has ever displayed hence why he seeks more power from the darkside especially since he still seems to be struggling with that decision.

It was a fun movie, but is anyone else concerned that this series might be about redeeming Kylo Ren/Ben Solo?

I mean, seriously the guy is just such a piece of shit character. I honestly have no interest in seeing the redemption story of spoiled brat with massive daddy issues who is heavily complicit in the murder of hundreds of billions of people. I just want them to kill him now, and quite brutally.
