There's probably an appropriate thread for this to merge with.

I was just wondering if anyone had the ratings to eithre of this years SOOs. Ive been told one of them had the highest capital city viewership ever for the concept, but i was hoping someone cold confirm/deny that.

much obliged.

Game 3
2.696m
(Syd 1.16m, Mel 464k, Bri 865k, Ade 95k) + GEM in Perth 110k*

Game 2
2.23m

Game 1
2.44m
(Syd 1.145m, Mel: 431k, Bri: 779k, Ade 77k) + Perth: N/A

Killed it! Can anyone explain the logic behind Nine in Perth failing to air one of the consistently biggest TV shows of the year on their second channel? Is a time difference thing or footy code politics as it is considered an AFL state?

Garbler .. My take on Perth and I'm sure others might disagree but it is more to do with the time its played. 8pm start is smack bang in the middle of channel nine news\today tonight (there biggest rating shows) and are not willing to shift them or can them for the night. Which I personally can't see a problem......3 nights a year couldn't hurt. But Perth do seem to put there sporting codes (afl and league) on there secondary channels(HD). But in saying that a couple wa v wa afl games are played on the main channel 7.

Correctly me if I'm wrong, but would it be safe to say that a lot of growth is from outside NSW/QLD? Growth of any kind is welcome, but particularly pleasing when non traditional NRL states are exposed to the game.

I remember bout 8 years ago listening to Hadley piss and moan about the Storm, their crowd attendance and how Victoria didn't deserve a team. Granted Melbourne is Australia's 2nd largest city, but almost a half million from Victoria tuning in for 3 games that:
a) don't involve their state
b) not their code of choice

is pretty bloody impressive right?

Imagine the Perth numbers once an NRL team is introduced there & they have regular NRL coverage & interest.

Well I admit I watched it in NZ (from NSW but honestly don't care. Used to support Qld cause I felt sorry for them for being flogged all those years before Origin was invented. Now they are just arrogant tw^ts).

But on the minus side, I haven't bothered to watch the NRL for about 6 weeks because Origin just wrecks for comp. I'd generally watch a 3-4 games every other week. So overall, RL ratings are down by about 21 viewers.........

Yeah I think the trade-off with Origin as a standalone showpiece is it:

Increases exposure to non-RL audiences
at the expense of
regular RL audiences (with decrease in quality of NRL games)

While there will always be the debate as to how much the trade-off is worth, I don't see it going anywhere soon.

Really impressed with Melbourne and Adelaide viewing numbers.

110k delayed in Perth is very good as well

Great ratings. It would be number one sports show this year wouldn't it? I'd imagine it would be up there overall as well.
