Always a shock when the long-term incumbent played gets usurped. It's a brave decision but Api has been in excellent form. His combination with the halves will be lethal.

The first time Nathan and Jerome will see clean ball in 2023

Looks like that Martin fella will be playing some prop for NSW.........

With the squad that has been picked id consider starting him there over Paulo. Haas and Paulo are both are bit vulnerable to smaller guys with footwork through the middle defensively imo.

That being said they may use Frizzel in the middle instead of Martin, not what I would do but I am pretty sure Freddy has used him in that role previously.

If we get a role on Turbo and Latrell are going to cut them to pieces on the edges, pretty simple game play for nsw, kick well and feed the centres with some good early ball. I do think NSW will mass Jurbo big time. The props they picked are beasts who can have a lot of impact but we are missing a worker who will do the clean up defensive work in the middle besides Yeo, we need more than one though. Qld pack has a bunch of guys with quick feet who will be up fast, I can see that causing us problems with all the big bodies we have in the middle.

Latrell will need to do some long kicking like Burton did last year. QLD will rush Nathan knowing Luai struggles to get any sort of distance

I'd be starting Haas and Martin, and then bringing on Paulo and TPJ off the bench once the speed of the game has died down. Frizell and Murray at second row.

Same with QLD. I'll be surprised if Tino is benched.

Only just noticed Capewell was dropped. Thought there was something off about the backrow.

Rabbitohs centre Campbell Graham has withdrawn from the New South Wales squad with a sternum injury, with Stephen Crichton joining the extended group ahead of the series opener.

After initially being named on Monday morning, Graham withdrew later in the day due to the injury, which he has been playing through for a number of weeks with South Sydney.

While disappointed, the 23-year-old centre, who has 12 tries in as many NRL games this year, said he doesn't expect it to be a long-term issue and wouldn't rule himself out of playing for the Rabbitohs in Round 13.

Interesting discussion around the 18th man and club availability. For Souths this is big bonus for their match against the Raiders. Not so bad for us as we have the bye this weekend.

Its an important position in the modern game and even more important at rep level where you can expect causalities. But I'm also wondering if this might be a response from Souths due to Damien Cook and Campbell Graham being left out of the starting side.

Reminds me of City vs Country in 2005. Matt Cooper and Mark Gasnier both pulled out due to injury. Yet less than 24 hours later they lined up for the Dragons in jerseys 18 and 22. They both had fantastic games and destroyed Souths that night (Not a huge achievement at the time but still).

Dropping Capewell is a mistake.

He's been very good filling in as a centre when required at Origin level.

QLD have no outside back cover.

Its not like QLD at all. Same with Ponga and Gagai. You could make a much easier case for dropping those two however.
