State of Origin

...As for Blair's DT comment, totally agree. One of the most bone-headed plays in Origin history, just short of a Hodges-esque brain melt. As the commentators said, his role would have been solely to put his head down and run. A 4-0 lead, an absolute arm wrestle where QLD just had to get to their kicks strongly, and this muppet decides to go the hail mary? He won't get picked again under Mal...

Lillyman showed Taylor how to play smart, and strong, in a tight, arm wrestle contest.

I thought he went real good. For what he lacks in Taylor's size he makes up for with doing the right thing, at the right time.

Just on Lillyman, he played, what?, about thirty minutes? He'll be right for us on Saturday.

Yep he'll be cherry ripe. Jake did what Jake does last night, which is all they asked for.

No Hodges for Sat night, good news (nor surprising news). Seems to me like even though there's 3 SOO games a year, he plays more of those than club matches.

stoked if Lily is ready to go, we need him.
QLD robbed by ShayneHayne, same as Warriors always are by him

Had an interesting comment today when talking SOO at work.
Ben Teo missed the tackle/left the gap for Hodkinson to go through and score!

"Teach them to pick a Kiwi!" :D

Disagree tbh, he's frustrating, but potential impact off the bench is huge

And, in a 'nothing to lose but pride' game, Mal's probably less concerned with crucial brain explosions when the series is on the line.

I'm getting his selection now.

In reality they don't have much depth... someone needs to work out how to get Taylor to realise that he is potentially the best forward in the game... seriously, if he's on his game, he's just about impossible to handle...

When was the last time Taylor was on his game - 2008? Not being funny but he's been consistently underwhelming ever since I can remember. Bored of hearing pundits and fans talking about what he can potentially do. He was never that good and we've been waiting for him to deliver for the better part of the last decade.

He'll always be a 'what if' player because the only thing that's going to make him man up and play the game hard is losing the athletic edge he's squandered to date.

I enjoyed tonight's game, the pressure was off and it flowed a lot better.

Hayne should play against the Warriors on Saturday, surely? SOO players always used to back up, I think Cherry-Evans is playing this Friday.

Hayne will be angry after that drubbing at Lang Park. We always seem to strike these tricky situations.

That Bird has to be the most unpleasant personality in the entire NRL, him alone almost swung me back to supporting Qld.

Yar, Bird is a complete tosser.

I only watched first 25 to see how Lillyman would go starting. Went well, i thought, though Smith seemed really reluctant to pass him the ball at first receiver.

The Taylor algorithm works this way:

Plays well v bottom 4 sides, in a contract negotiation period, possibly pre-Origin with spots available and when able to attack tiny, vulnerable halves.

Plays badly in Origin, finals, or any other match where he is unable to create massive mismatches.

I watch a fair bit of footy and I cannot remember him taking on a man 100kgs plus and winning. That's not flash for an eight-year career.

Jarryd Hayne cutting his nails pre-match, Trent Hodkinson admitted he bawled his eyes out driving home a few years ago, Dugan carrying a broken fingernail into the match...gee the NSW media would've had a field day if it was the other way around.

Well, if I was Hayne's spin doctor I'd have told the media that he was reluctant to scratch his opponents faces and/or eyes.

He would have won that PR battle. Surely this is the reason for cutting them?
