Good read, but why on earth didn't they wait 'till after the GF to report on the finals series too?

Western Sydney crowds up 12%...

edit: some of these slides are absolutely amateurish, would take 20 mins to fix some of them so they look presentable.

• 2.8 million fans across Facebook making up the largest cumulative sports fan base on social media in Australia.
Why aren't these knts getting out to the games each week ffs

• NRL Club Membership has increased 12.7% to 204,772 in 2012.
• This is the 5thsuccessive year of significant increases in NRL Club membership.
Awesome

* 2012 saw the introduction of a Membership renewal race (highest percentage renewed by November 15 won – Warriors 96%)
Good luck with that this year...

• The 2012 Community Carnival was the largest in the event’s 11-year history with NRL players reaching more than 115,000 children across 170 towns, in two countries and across five Australian states - New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania – in a 24-day period.
lol Radelaide...

Also liked those stats at the end.

Facebook "likes" are the most meaningless metric ever. Takes all of half a second to hit a "like" button and you don't have to think about it. But since everyone brags about it you need to mention it.

What sort of annual report doesn't have a finances section?

Maybe next year they won't be so embarrased and will tell us the fianncial state of the game now it has some money?

Would be nice to see a more detailed report, show us where fudning goes to and how many development officers there are in each part of the country, how many clubs and players etc etc etc

State of the NRL would be a more accurate descriptor for the report.

Nice to see Perth lead the crowd growth area though, lot of good it did us!

lol

i knew you'd whinge

you've done it every year when they release the reports

just piss off and follow AFL

Continues to be a poor excuse for an annual report. Hopefully with the new IC we will get a proper annual report that focuses on all levels of the game and shows more detail for scrutiny by the stakeholders. Wonder why we continually refuse to show our financial performance?

Now show me some useful information about the State of "the game"!

As far as annual reports go it is poor, suck on the balls of the admin all you like el, doesn't stop it being a poor annual report.

The useful information goes to those who need it. The "stakeholders" will get to see everything they need to see. There is no benefit of sharing more financial or detailed development information with the public

You, as a poster on a message board on the internet, are lucky to get this much.

lol, you don't think fans are "stakeholders" in the game? It's gone from 41 pages to 29 pages this year. I look forward to getting the one pager next!

Why do you deserve a full 200-page report into the finances of the game.

Not any of your business.

Just STFU.

Everyone knows the NRL has been flat broke since the comp started, so why in the world would you need to worry about something the game hasn't had (finances) when just the other week, they managed to get over a billion bucks?

Worry about next years ffs.

It is obvious that they try to put a positive spin on these reports. If it is good news, it will be front and centre. If it is bad news, it will be glossed over or left out entirely. This is hardly a serious report on the state of the game, it is an advertising brochure!

As long as the people who are making key decisions have access to the solid numbers, I'm happy with that. I'd love to be privy to it, but I understand that not everything needs to be made public.

You're right. I suspect it was bumped up to move past the McLachlan thing. Doesn't really matter though.

When you consider the current state of world finances here you have a sport that's producing solid crowds, participation, ratings, memberships and broadcasting rights - some of which are at record levels.

Sure the game has been run on the smell of an oily rag but if that's what they can do with a rag I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with a huge cash injection.

Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing the report over the next few years. Hopefully they put all their new-found riches to good use and the game can really take off!

If it was raining $100 notes you'd complain about bending over to pick them up.

Hey PR.... See those stats about crowds?

This is the ARL financial report from 2007 but it still makes for interesting reading
