Maybe the NRl have a secret formula:

Profile of player x amount of bad press x Rebeeca Wilsons opinion x team they play for x how embarrasing for Gallop it is x you tube footage = type of punishment!

Thats fine with me. A new precedent has been set, next time anyone in the same position should be given the same sentence. Doesn't matter if you are Laffranchi, Crocket or Stewart.

Agree...as much as I hate Manly; the NRL have set a new standard and better bloody be consistent with this ruling in future.

Tough call Manly...

I wouldn't even give them that much credit.

They are trying to cover their arse here by suspending him for "Drunken Behaviour", because if Stewart gets off, I would say there would be compensation to be paid to all concerned parties. I wouldn't hold back.

so after he has it adjourned he can play?

I'd imagine an adjournment would see the ban extended. This would discourage clubs from simply shelling out the money to adjourn it until the season is over and then have the case tried in the off season (as the AFL clubs do).

If the NRL can remain consistent with this, I think it is a good move. Shows a bit of backbone.

I'd love to see some of you lot run the NRL. So many of you have NFI.

Plenty of players have been stood down for too much booze/partying etc - countless Dogs players (Te Maari, Maitua, Williams has even had a spell in Premier League IIRC), Hayne last year...

Weak as piss the lot of ya. Well done NRL.

Best post of the thread.
Some people assume that the NRL governs the game as if they were fans...it doesn't work that way.

4 games for cawkmough sounds about right too.... :whistle

I do believe the investigation against Watmough is ongoing, but I certainly agree that he should be stood down as well. Goose. Utter goose.

Just wondering , do you actually believe stewarts punishment should be worse becuase of him being the face of the NRL? ( as per you previous post)

 So because some clubs were too spineless to actually punish someone, we should allow a weak-as-water precedent to continue?
They were stood down by the Clubs.
And the NRL may just have stepped in and done the same had the clubs not stood them down. Who knows.

Don't see the point in arguing the toss here really, he's been suspended until the trial.

The point is you were saying others have had the same punishment, which is clearly false.

the clubs suspending someone as the NRL doing it are entirely different.

Yes, if you want your team to win, just accuse the opposition's star player of something. Evidence and proper trial be damned.

Just to accuse someone means squat. They have to be charged with something by the Police and the Police only charge if there is evidence against the accused.

Mate the thing is you can't accuse people of having NFI if you don't yourself

Your a funny merkin hahaha

Maybe I can't, but at the same time people are carrying on like porkchops about something that is not their decision to make, and those people are far less informed about the matter than the Manly club and the NRL are.
