Stewart banned till rnd 5

Yes I mentioned that previously.

Be consistant and ban Whatmough also, and anyone else from now on that gets smashed and makes a goose of himself.

As a RL fan I'm sick of it.

If they were being consistent watmough would actually get a bigger suspension.

Hitting someone ( If true) is far worse than poor behaviour whilst drunk.

for once i agree with gallop, stewart was given the honour of being the face of our great game and he made a concious decision to write himself off, bring the game into disrepute a week before kick off and hes been charged with sexual assault, 4 weeks is getting off lightly, this scum bag along with watmough should be rubbed out of the game, especially watmough, hes dont about 10 things similar to this over the years, when is enough enough? bravo david gallop, good to see a pair on you for once!

The headlines are building - we need to act.

FMD, does the telecrap run the NRL? I know, stupid question.

The NRL says the ban is due to drunken irresponsible behaviour, and not in relation to the sexual assault charges laid against the player this week.

Yeah, sure it is, so should I expect to see every player busted for DUI twiddling their thumbs on the sideline?

For the sake of clarity Manly should ask for some specifics, I'm sure every player would want to know where the line is now - was it for being drunk? If the behaviour they are suspending him over is the same as the incident all over the news then will the NRL compensate both the player and the club for his absence if he is found not guilty?

What a f^cking can of worms with kick off only 2 days away.

You cant make blanket suspensions for "like for like" cases. Every case needs to be treated differently. The decision is the tough one but correct one, and im glad for once the NRL has made the tough decision. This is the best decision in the NRLs, Manlys and more importantly Stewarts interest especially in the long run guilty or not.

I think the ban for 4 weeks would be to test the water and see what happens.

I agree in that it was a PR move.. but i think its a necessary one- which should be uniform for players facing charges. And i think its better that the NRL handle it than the clubs.

I see Manlys' responsibility in all of this to be to look after the player and provide a support base for him. This includes taking his word for what happened. With that in mind i can see why they'd play him. Why drop him if his innocent?

the NRL didnt suspend him becuase he was on charges though , they suspended him for drunken behaviour. Are we going to suspend all players for 4 weeks that do the same thing?

and what other than the accusations did stewart do that would warrant 4 weeks? it seems to me he has been suspended for getting drunk and thats it.

Crazy!

All I can say is that they better be bloody consistant with this "NRL Code of Conduct" from hereon in.

There are no excuses for the NRL Board now.

I don't want to see it but I smell a court injunction coming, Brett may as well put his boots away as I honestly don't see him playing for a long stretch

O dear, I think this is the first time I have ever agreed with you.

I'd love to see some of you lot run the NRL. So many of you have NFI.

Plenty of players have been stood down for too much booze/partying etc - countless Dogs players (Te Maari, Maitua, Williams has even had a spell in Premier League IIRC), Hayne last year...

Weak as piss the lot of ya. Well done NRL.

On the matter from what we are hearing i too think that Watmough should be suspended also, how can someone hit a sponsor and get away with it?
Wouldn't that be assault?
The Manly club haven't handled this well at all.

FMD that is deadset the most idiotic thing I have read in this thread. He hasnt been convicted of anything yet and your prepared to say he should be wiped out of the game.

If it were GI in this situation Im sure your tune would be far from the same.

Would you prefer the NRL to finally get tough after the next atrocity. Got to start sometime. GOod on the NRL. Next step a tribunal for off field behaviour.
