Storm v Knights - Game thread

F*CK!

My god we played poor...we had all the ball and no matter how much heart we have played with - and we have - we never looked dominant and Melbourne - even with all of their mistakes - always looked like they would score if they could get up their end of the field...

Good god we need a halfback. Not Mullen playing as a halfback to accommodate Rogers, not Dureau who shows some aspects of being an NRL player and not others...we need an experienced playmaker who can keep us moving in the right direction. Some aspects of that game screamed of panic and disorganisation - a bunch of guys looking for the individual hero play and not working as a team.

That sh*t just makes me mad...we should have won that...we played with plenty of spirit and heart but not a lot of direction...yet another game where we should have won...

f**k me we are a joke
f**k off we're a joke...we just took the best f**king team over the past three f**king years to the wire at their home f**king ground. The only reason we didn't have that game wrapped up halfway through the second f**king half was because they're the best f**king defensive team in the history of the f**king competition. Yes it's f**king frustrating but don't f**king take it out on our f**king team.

Except Ben f**king Rogers...he can go f**king f**k off.

you need to get out more mate

I stand by what I said, all that possession and we still couldn't come up with anything. Yes, Storm are a good defensive team... but take the blue and red goggles off, that was a pretty woeful attacking performance. I am a Knights supporter through and through but I'm sick of seeing sh*t like that. Heart will only get you so far.

We struggled inside the 20 but our forwards dominated one of the best packs in the comp

fair enough mate, it was probably a bit of a heat of a moment thing the 'joke' comment, but I don't think that the performance was very good at all.. just my opinion, our defence was pretty good for the majority of the game, I was definitely happy with that. The attack.. no comment.

Immensely disappointing. A position in the top 4 guaranteed if we win and we let ourselves down by poor kicking in the last 10 minutes to let the Storm back into it. Three kicks in a row went straight down the throats of the fullback and both wingers. That isn't good enough. That pressure led to the drop ball which gave Melbourne their sniff. I have said it for a while now...there are several players out there who are passengers in this team. Uate, Rogers, Lulia are not NRL First Grade standard as for as I am concerned. And yet people laughed at me when I suggested we by Lote Tuquiri. I would gladly show Uate and Lulia the door in exchange for Lote. Shannon McDonnell seems to be playing with a lot of confidence and could fill the other wing spot.

Have a look at how the Broncos are going mate.Total proof of why you don't buy $500k wingers. Signing Lote would be a gross waste of money.

Good to see Pato back.
He needs to improve his workrate a lot, but good to see his quality work.

We were the better side, if only Sau would pass the ball once in a blue moon.
They all knew that as soon as Sau had the ball 6 of them could go for him because his last pass that wasn't a desperate offload was in the under 6s.

What a let down in the last 2 minutes.

Also just heard Craig Hamilton say that with the Chris Houston lost ball Mat Cecchin ruled it was stripped but Shane Hayne over ruled that ruling.

you guys were good tonight! I dont know how we got away with that win...you guys will trouble alot of teams come finals time. Fix those handling errors and you guys will be very hard to start.

Was anyone else annoyed by blindside/short side plays? Maybe it was just me but it never looked like the right option when we took it :\

McDonnell was one of our best out there tonight, Rogers was bloody hopeless. Wicks best game ever for the Knights, Gidley played his arse off. We did everything but win the bloody game, very unlucky.

We played very negative football in patches tonight. We have shown that we can be one of the best teams in the comp but constantly let ourselves down by dropping intensity at the wrong times. Even though Melbourne have not been on their game, they still boast players like Slater, Inglis, Smith, Cronk. You cannot for a minute think you have them because players like that can, will (and as shown tonight) will make you pay for it. Only 2 minutes before that last try the ABC commentators were saying that Inglis has been quiet, he needs to get the ball in his hands for Melbourne to win. And they were right.
With 10 minutes to go I knew the score would not end up 14-12. I knew there would be one more try to be scored.

Good enough to win tonight but still not good enough. Errors and bad decisions by Rogers at critical times - he killed a lot of good work that was done leading up to that. I was disappointed Faas was taken off when he was just starting to get them back going forward.
A generally good game by Pato for first time back. DeGois went well. Gidley must be exhausted from playing his butt off. There were a lot of good performances from the Knights. They boasted about Melb defense but Knights defense was also mostly good - a few positional errors cost.
Too much going sideways and not enough going forward. Sure, Melb defense was good but you could see the impact from going up the middle.

I think Brian Smith need to invest in one of those stage hooks. That way he can hook off Ben Rogers if he has another Barry Crocker of a game.
