The text says debris from floodwaters. So after the flood. I expect it wouldn't even begin to look like Brisbane after the water has subsided.

I think he was having a dig with the "before" part.

I was in Budaberg last week watching the netball courts get fire hosed cleaned while some houses were in very poor states. There was no public lynching.

Roopy is merely pointing out that grounds recover quickly. Yes, Brisbane's flood is different, but that aint the point.

Well they reckon that the water subsided, it won't take much to fix it at all.

Poor Timbo, quite a fall from that high horse as the rest of burbs get cleaned up.

Timbos, shyte smells like flowers unilke the stench for people who are cleaning up.

Enjoy the game Cowboys and Broncos fans, it will be on time, without any government help.

For the record, my brother lives and works in Auchenflower and has been affected by the floods. If one one hundredth of a resource gets moved away from him and people like him so a bloody football match can be held then what the hell is going on?

Suncorp will be fixed well before 90% of the houses of those effected, thats just the reality of it. It will be funded privately by the stadium's insurance and fixed ASAP because they can pay for it.

As to houses, there will be tens of thousands of contractors from all corners of australia descending on QLD over the next 12 months to cash in on the billions of insurance jobs that will be required though so it wont be too long a wait for most people in that regard either.

the government should focus all of its money on fixing the infrastructure damage first. Roads, power, communications. These things need to be priority before cleaning houses.

I dont think League should be played anywhere in the world until Timbos brother's rumpus room and formal dining room are fixed, repainted and cleared for use.

The initial clean-up phase at Suncorp Stadium has been completed.

Work has commenced on the rectification of the field of play and the massive job of repairing all of the affected spaces and equipment.

A temporary office has been set up onsite allowing Stadium staff to continue to function. Urgent enquiries should be directed to 07 3331 5000 or email info@suncorpstadium.com.au

Stadium General Manager, Alan Graham paid tribute to all of those involved in the clean-up to date.

No time frame yet Qld's on Suncorp stadium

In a major headache for two of Queensland's biggest sporting franchises, state minister Phil Reeves admits it will be "touch and go" if Suncorp Stadium will be ready for action in the next month.

A submerged Suncorp Stadium was one of the poignant images of the flooding that ravaged Queensland's south-east last week.

Sports Minister Reeves said restoring the hallowed turf formerly known as Lang Park was the "easy fix", but he couldn't put a time frame on when the rest of the stadium could be repaired.

"Yesterday we had to water it because it was too dry - it will be fixed but it is the inner workings of the stadium that are the issue," Reeves said.

"We have to be honest, it (when Suncorp Stadium will reopen) is a bit of an unknown at this stage.

"We will do whatever we can but the assessment is still occurring but I must say there is no guarantee that it will be a quick fix."

High profile tenants - A-League frontrunners Brisbane Roar and Super Rugby surprise packets Queensland Reds - were the first to express their sympathy for the city's residents who had suffered due to the catastrophic flooding.

But they were clearly alarmed about the disruption Suncorp Stadium's damage could cause to their seasons.

Roar coach Ange Postecoglou is sweating on a Football Federation Australia decision on where they will play the rest of their remaining home games.

The runaway A-League leaders are scheduled to play three of their last four matches at home.

But they have had their January 26 game against Wellington postponed and their rescheduled January 30 showdown with Melbourne Heart has already been ruled out.

"And obviously it is touch and go for (the Roar's) February 12 (clash with arch rivals Gold Coast)," Reeves said.

Gold Coast's Skilled Park, Queensland Sports and Athletic Centre, Ballymore and Toowoomba's Clive Berghofer Stadium are all in the mix to host the Roar's final home games.

However, Postecoglou wasn't relishing the prospect of relocating to Skilled Park, described as the A-League's worst surface.

"I just want a good surface - if Skilled Park can provide a good surface fine and well," he told AAP.

"If it isn't, it is going to make it even harder for us because of the kind of game we play."

The floodwaters receded below Suncorp Stadium's surface last Friday, but Reeves said there had been structural concerns as well as problems with the venue's electronics.

Still Reds coach Ewen McKenzie was hopeful that their Super Rugby opener against Western Force on February 20 would be played at Suncorp Stadium.

"We are quietly confident with all the resources that the government has got the stadium will be in the right shape when we play there," he said earlier on Tuesday.

"Seeing it (underwater) was symbolic but it can be symbolic another way - if they get it sorted in time which we expect that's great."

Massive recovery programme underway

The assessment of damage at Suncorp Stadium caused by last week’s flood continues.

At the peak of the floods, water was 1.1 metres deep in the middle of the field of play. It was 1.3 metres deep in the seating bowl and 1.4 metres deep in the dressing rooms area.

The areas damaged were the field of play, all spaces on Level 1 West comprising the dressing rooms, gameday operations room, medical rooms, officials rooms, ball-boys room, press conference and photographers rooms, police room, stadium control room, staff muster room, staff briefing room, uniform room, building distribution room, ancillary catering rooms, and event entertainers rooms. In addition, the Queensland Rugby League and the Former Origin Greats offices were affected.

In addition, a large quantity of essential equipment was destroyed or severely damaged, including the main Stadium switchboard, eight lifts, elements of the air-conditioning system, the entire fire control system, the in-house television network, the telephone system, the CCTV system and the ticketing control system.

The initial clean-up has been completed and work has now commenced on the massive recovery programme ahead.

The progress of these extensive works and the availability of essential equipment and trades will influence when the Stadium will be ready for events to be held. The next scheduled Brisbane Roar games against the Wellington Phoenix on 26 January and Melbourne Heart on 29 January will be played at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast.

As you can see, a lot of work needs to be done and there are no certainties other than that we will continue to work around the clock to restore the venue to its former glory as quickly as possible.

Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys players may have to rough it in the dressingrooms, but it should be all systems go for their round-one NRL match at flood-damaged Suncorp Stadium on March 11.
New Broncos chief executive Paul White sought assurances from stadium management that everything would be right on the night, given the game traditionally draws a crowd of close to 50,000.
While A-League frontrunners Brisbane Roar and Super Rugby side Queensland Reds also have concerns about scheduling at Suncorp Stadium, they will not be drawing crowds of the magnitude of the Broncos.
White said stadium management had taken him on an inspection tour on Friday and he felt confident about the derby going ahead as planned.
"A lot of work is being done in the short term, and the playing surface itself should be right in a couple of weeks," he said.

"The players may have to put up with temporary dressingroom facilities, but it should not have an impact on their preparation."

Nah your right. Let's spend millions on a stadium when peoples homes and businesses have been obliterated.
SO Timbo, are you ok? The roar played at suncorp, no government involvement, bit worried about you, after that huge fall from your high horse.

Did you eat humble pie in hospital recovering from your fall?

There was a HUGE uproar :)sarcasm:) when the FOX Hotel at West End got volunteers to come clean up the pub as soon as the flood waters receded and were open the Sunday after the floods after the water made it to the 2nd floor.

Only had tradesmen working on the fridges and bars, the rest were residents and the "mud brigade" (they were also recruiting people off facebook). No later than 72hours after the worse of the floods the pub was open and trading.

Timbo would of lost his sh*t.
