Says it all really.

White Anter.

Well, f*ck off to Brisbane and watch the finals of the Queensland Cup then!

Just out of curiosity, how many games do you get off your fat arse to actually go and see? You sound like an armchairtard to me.

I did say melbourne fan, not melbourne girl (aka resident) you do need reading lessons.

I'd need lessons in speaking geniusese to understand the likes of you

For what it's worth,New South Welshmen(predominantly) need to get this idea out of their head that;
'Oh well what if two Sydney teams play in Queensland...blah blah'.
Well, then it should be packed out like any other team.
This whole segregation Queensland Vs NSW thing is the reason why our crowds suck and that we can't consistently compete against the AFL - Teams should be teams regardless of their location and supporters should watch for the game not the teams.
And usually,in the GF,they do - So why would that be any different in Queensland?

Tradition...well have tradition and see our game be supressed....there's teams in other states and supporters in other states that deserve it as well not just Sydney...if we want tradition then really it would be played in England so that theory's debunked.
No,Brisbane shouldn't host a GF because the stadium capacity is not enough.
That should be the only reason.

No doubt some of you will go into the threads talking about lack of crowds or how RL is being undersold and dying and won't see the irony lol.

That was a bit of a rant to get to a simple answer shorty ;-)

I've told this story sooooooooo many times on here, it seems if you're from Sydney you have to justify it if you support a non-Sydney side.

My family are hard core, mental, Parra fans. I've been going to games since I was a baby in a PRAM. When Storm entered the comp I was going through a bit of a teenage rebellion, and decided that Parra weren't for me, just because the family said so, didn't make it right. So I switched to the Storm and haven't looked back.

Yes, I live in Sydney, but due to work reasons, I get to travel to Melbourne quite often, hence I get to watch many Storm home games and NEVER miss a Sydney game. I've been everywhere to watch them except NZ, and I'm hoping to do that too, this year or next.

Any other questions??

Much the same reason as me. I was 5 at the time, and the entire family mad parra fans, they played the drags, we won and i thought yep they are for me I chose the drags.

I've been asked about three times, why if I was born and bred in Sydney, would I support an interstate team. Didn't necessarily mean YOU wanted me to justify it. It was a general comment.

Wouldn’t it be terrible if all those people who buys tickets to the NRL grand final at ANZ Stadium and sit way up in the nose bleed section on Level 6 and are forced to watch the Grand Final via the stadiums huge TV’s, were suddenly forced to sit at home and watch the grand final through their own wide screen plasma TVs because the grand final was moved to Brisbane. That would be disgraceful!

If the QLD Government could pony up the cash to make it more profitable, even allowing for the 30,000 less capacity, then I guess I could live with it being played in QLD once every 3 years (seems fair. once every 2 years wouldn't be, because regardless of their delusions, Sydney has more RL fans than Brisbane). But until VIC or WA or something can claim to be RL "heartland" any suggestion to move a GF there is utter nonsense.

Shock, horror, how dare they take a GF out of Sydney? FFS it's supposed to be heading to a national game, I see no reason why the GF can't be played in any city that can guarantee a sell out and that makes the NRL most money. If the Vic Govt want to bid for it and we are likely to get 90,000 at the MCG to watch then great! It shows Australia that we are no longer the NSWRL, oh but then that would mean having to accept that the game has moved beyond Suburban Sydney, god forbid!!

It works in the NFL, let the cities bid for it and lets see our game spread across the country and making the most money it can.

Loudmouth became an armchairtard when he declared that he was engaged to MsStorm at one stage. Weird.

100 years of tradition, would afdl move the gf from mcg.

It's nice to see a melbourne fan really appreciates the games traditions.

If Perth had got its $1billion AFL stadium I can guarantee they would have been pushing the AFL for a GF. They didn't (ha ha) so they know there isn't a stadium/fanbase that could hold the AFL GF other than the MCG at this point in time. If they thought they could sell out ANZ for it I am sure they would be fishing with the NSW Govt to see if there was any interest, it makes financial sense to open these things up to competition from a $'s point of view.

Realistically they would be able to charge more per ticket for a greater demand and so the shortfall would be relatively small for the Q'land Govt to pay on top of what the NSW Govt is currently paying.

You took the words out of my mouth Jobdog. It'd be like the AFL taking their Grand Final away from Melbourne

what a load of sh*t!

RL is a 2 state code essentially.
AFl is a truly national game.

when you have a 2 state code, and refuse to nationalise your sport - then you have legitimate claims to have alternate GF's or every few years alternate to the other state.

its the first time I have heard something good out of Anna - what a great move!

lol at you sydney wimps crying foul over it all - maybe if you supported RL more by actually attending games (World cup anyone?) then you could claim the interest level equals Qld. bring it on!!!!

this is a good point.
with less tickets, there is more demand, and higher prices.

I would pay DOUBLE the price of the sydney ticket to see a local GF - would still be ahead taking into account an air fare and accom etc to Moaney (i mean sydney).

more money is potentially on offer to the NRl - not less

Sydney population = 4,285,000 with 9 teams, average 476,111 fans per side.
Brisbane/GC/SC population = 2,690,000 with 2 teams, average 1,345,000 fans per side.
If we take off the S/C population it comes down to 1.2 million fans per side.

Keep your eyes closed, or just start your own comp. Ohhh silly me you already did that, how did that turn out again ??

AFL is only taken seriously by 46% of the population. If that's national then the AIHL mustn't be far behind...

Why do all these fumbleball trolls hang around here? I just don't get it.
