I'm all over the redfin down here and do get quite big ones. Best would be in the 40cm range, which is large. Molix Nanojigs are the killer there, especially if you can get out on LBG in a kayak. But they eat anything which is why it's so weird to fish so long without even a reddie.

I usually get quite regular yellowbelly too. They like the Nanojigs or Jackall TN60 vibes. And any medium diving minnow in black brains them. I haven't got many lately though.

Still trying to get a Canberra cod.
I only got pretty generic light gear here and so flathead/bream and whiting will be the targets. Alsong as i can fill fhe freezer with something edible and still get out if the house without being a biorisk

I just dropped almost $400 bucks on a new baitcaster setup....doesn't seem like I'll get much use out of it before winter hits

Ill just go into the next season of species.

You'll get snowed on

I don't care if I catch a big cod, lol.

But yeah, it's hard to stay out fishing when you might get one bite in a five hour session and it's 2 degrees in the sun.

My old man got one of those floating chair things trout fisherman use to use in the pool for his knee rehab that im tempted to use. Only problem is having my legs dangling for a few hours in the GC canals where plenty of bigger fish with teeth live

Yeah look, I feel like dangling your legs in with bull sharks while having fish on the line near your feet could end slightly poorly.

Today's self isolated fishing report. I have officially ween cursed by a Gypsy.

ie Dutchy
I got a few undersized but was mainly a trial run and after a solid workout and hill sprints today being ass deep in water and walking around did wonders.

Asian group sniffed me out and came and plonked right next to me as predicted. Also predicted that anything that came out of the water was going in the bucket regardless of how big it is and the biggest one i saw go i could have fit 2 of in my hand.

Have witnessed it many times between here, central qld, nth qld, darwin and many spots between auckland harbour to the very tip of the north island and all of them have come from the same continent

Yeah happens too often.

I got wrapped around a log by something, lost tension and popped the hooks trying to free the line. Nice little 40-odd cm cod followed my spinnerbait right to my feet, hit the thing twice an , missed the hook and the stinger somehow... Then my braid got a horrible wind knot and now my reel needs surgery.

Cursed I tell ya
