BP has always cut Pearce slack because as a QLDer he appreciates Pearce's efforts for NSW.

Also Mullen is irrelevant unless you're talking 5/8.

Based on any game where he has to prove his Origin 'credentials' and he turns in an average performance.

Been that way since 2009.

I don't doubt Maloney would function fine as a halfback.

Looking at who he has had to carry in the halves, it's not really fair to say he fails at that level. He's worked with some utter duds as his halves partner, and spent most of his early career playing out of position.

When has Pearce ever turned in a performance that proved his credentials?

LU's general opinion on Mullen is very much like that of Sutton where the line of thought is pretty much "Oh he used to be inconsistent in previous years and therefore he still is". Not that I blame people for not watching Knights games the way we're going...

Hard enough to convince myself to watch them

So many excuses.

Pearce has helped transform bottom dwelling teams into Top 4 contenders. On the virtue that he doesn't blow his load like Mullen does when he's under a bit of pressure it makes him a better pick than Mullen.

Changing the halves and throwing Mullen into the deep end is the last thing they need to do and I see nothing to suggest he's 10 times the player.

Which bottom dwelling team has Pearce transformed? The Roosters revival this year might have a lot more to do with the SBW, Jennings, Maloney signings than anything Pearce has done.

Pearce has always been the focal point of their attack as demonstrated by how many tries and line breaks he sets up.

I don't rate Mitchell, but he's the most rounded halfback NSW have right now.

Anyway it'd be dumb to drop Pearce for the decider regardless of his performance so far. Bringing in a new halfback for Game III has derp written all over it.

That thinking is what got Pearce to 10 or 11 Origin caps already.

By the same token it's how Pearce was selected in the first place.

Baz has it right, except for throwing Wolfman's name into the hat.

Sisa Waqa needs to come in for Merritt. Best defensive winger in the game. Him and Morris could shut down GI and Boyd pretty well i reckon.

Not that i want them to win, mind, i just don't see the point of watching the game played on easy mode.

To be fair, Pearce and Maloney were never going to dominate a game where NSW made 4x the tackles that QLD did in the first 15 minutes. You just can't burn that sort of juice early in Origin and expect to come out on top.

The only change I would make would be to swap Reynolds for an extra forward on the bench. I think that last nights game showed you need a 4 forward rotation.

You can't change your halves for game 3. Not unless you are forced to.

I've said a few times that I don't think we'll ever win a series with Pearce as 7 but game 3 is not the place to change him. If you've gone with him for two games, you can't up and change now.
