It's the general attitude.
This is your first semester of study, and you're already copping out of stuff. Law Degrees don't grow on trees. Trust me, I've got one and at times it was a murderous slog.
Top Tier firms, where the money is are ultra competitive and they have ways of finding out information like this before accepting clerks. A failed foundation unit is as good as done in terms of Top Tier prospects in the post GFC world.
I don't doubt for a second that law degrees are a murderous slog. My mate is in the final semester of his one at UNE. I know they're bloody hard. But imho (I'm aware how douchey this will sound) I am brighter than he is. If I work as hard as he has I'll be able to complete it to. I believe 100% if I'm fully dedicated I can get distinctions regularly.
When I finally get to doing law I will work hard. And without going into too much detail, me being in Melbourne will make it so much easier to focus on study.
As for future law firms finding this fail, I guess you can never be certain but this fail won't be on my law degree. It's part of a communication degree.
But if I have a law degree full of distinctions I have faith they won't care about a fail in a different unit 5 years earlier.
the practical application of a law degree is finding a way to get out of things...
so bm could be a superstar in his field..
i think we may have the next brian alexander on our hands...
Did you see in the news today about the mum who was found not guilty for leaving her kid in the car to die? The lawyer who got her out of that. I yearn to dedicating my life to that sort of work.
Not really. If I'm going to be a lawyer one day I hope to be someone who fights for the good guys....until it gets me a cushy seat in parliament.
