Yes, although it begs more questions than it answers.

not really...

Drew-sta: "excuse me, walter burley-griffin?"

Walter Burley-Griffin: "yes?"

D.S.: "why did you design canberra so circular?"

W.B.G.: "because i like circles"

D.S.: "fair enough, have a good day"

But its so inefficient for navigating and street layout!!

Walter Burley-Griffin: "not if dealing with a landscape that contains the contours of canberra, my dear mr sta. the central design feature of my plan is the house of parliament, which is contained within capital hill.

by having a completely circular design around the main reason the town was planned, i was able to use this circle as one location to triangulate off to create other central areas, including the central business district and military headquarters.

in addition to these key areas of focus, you will notice i have radiated key vehicular flows off the main parliamentary circle in a direct line to other major capitals in australia - hence adelaide avenue, melbourne avenue etcetera.

you may be comparing and contrasting my circular design with the grid format that sir robert hoddle used to set out the city of melbourne, however why that design works better is the area in which he mapped out was relatively flat with only slight undulation.

now, any more questions?"

Yes - why do you have such a pretentious, hyphenated name, you great, big poonce?

The fifties called - they want their wankery names back.

Walter Burley-Griffin: "i have a hyphenated name as i thought it was the best chance of getting to play for the roosters. but you do realise i wasn't even alive in the 1950's.. i passed away in 1937. i'm amazed actually that i know how to even use one of these computing typewriters.

however, in all seriousness, my name is hyphenated as i chose to keep both my father's surname and my mother's maiden name."
