I don't have a problem with this tax in theory as long as it only targets high income earners, people in more fortunate economic positions should be able to share a greater burden of economic responsibility.
and the tax system we have in place doesn't already do this? people earning more already pay a higher % of tax, not just purely more $ based on the same % applied to higher income as lower income..
plus you add in the recent private health rebate changes last year which also have an impact on those earning more and it's a double whammy on those earning more..
and in all honesty (and i'm going to get flamed for this, but i don't care) an $80k salary really isn't that much if you are the sole income earner for a family...
you want to look at a way to save $$ and fix the economy through making housing more affordable?
