so decided to walk to work tomorrow, just for something different..

about 2hrs... Will leave home around 6am..

so, should i take my ipod for company, starting the day with the dulcet tones of disturbed, karnivool & slipknot?

or should i go sans ipod and savour the early morning sounds along the way?

i hope you went with the music. besides it helps you keep a fast pace

Only ever played one game cricket.
Went to watch my workmate play, he plays in 1st divison locally.
The other team we running short, so I got asked to step in.
I fielded, after every over, I'd get lost as to where I was supposed to go. Was it the same place for every bowler, or am I in a different spot for different bowlers? - Never the less - and thankfully - the ball never came my way. There was a guy in the other team who had played for the Otago Volts.

I then got sent into bat, we needed 30 odd runs.
Being a spotty 18 year old at the time, I was weaing silk boxers - no where for the cup! So, I embarassingly have to ask for tape.
Taping the cup to my nether regions.

I step out into the middle and I can't believe that I could actually feel my body shake.
First ball, I go to block it but get a nick on it, wicket keeper catches it, but deliberately drops it making my agony continue.
Second ball in, I see the field come in, so I decide, right, if I'm gonna do it, I'll go for it. Swing and a miss!
Third ball in and I'm a shambles, decide I'll block it from here on in and just see till end of the over, somehow I missed the ball completley and out went middle stump.

nah, ended up going sans ipod..

enjoyed the first part of the walk (thru some parklands) so got to listen to birds & just general early morning noise..

but once i got to the main roads etc & all i could hear was traffic, i was kicking myself for not at least carrying the music..

next time i'll do it..

You can get one of those soundproof headsets. You'll faintly here the traffic... But they could be dangerous, you should always. Ex alert as to what's going on around you. Also there's though earplug ear pieces that block out some of the noise too if you're after something a little cheaper. I don't know what your line of work is Muz but I take it you don't wear a tie to work? Walking for 2 hours even in smart casual business attire will be very uncomfortable. Unless you're the type to have a shower and get changed at work :)
