Minimal time there, thankfully. Indonesian Tourism Board wants to remind people there is more to it than Bali. I'm particularly keen for Komodo.

Having worked with a few Indonesian government agencies, I would be careful about destination choices. Seas around Komodo and Rinca are pretty bad at this time of year, and I would definitely want to see the boat and check a few reviews out about the operator before jumping aboard. Above all when it comes to being on the sea in Indonesia, you need to be satisfied with your safety, and just because old Hartono from the tourism ministry says his cousins boat is safe does not mean it is.

I'm pretty picky on press trips these days. Skipped a few things on my trip to Namibia in May for not being on the level, and wouldn't hesitate to do it on this one either. It's work, but the beauty of being your own boss is that the client can suck it if things don't measure up.

It sounds like a big group though, so are they five starring you? If so, no problems are likely.

Edit - I do love the place, but it is always a matter of keeping your wits about you. Just because the government is doing something means nothing. This is a tourism ministry that has to date been unable to sell Belitung (look it up) to a global audience. And when you add in rough seas, it pays to be doubly careful. Not that they would, but run for the hills if they put you on Lion Air, because the pilots have managed to run over a cow landing a plane.
