You would be amazed at how little long term thinking ranges into the Indonesian government mindset. For super fun pissing off of foreigners, read about how a court took the testimony of a shaman over one of the worlds top path labs in the Jakarta International School case.
It sounds like a big group though, so are they five starring you? If so, no problems are likely.
Edit - I do love the place, but it is always a matter of keeping your wits about you. Just because the government is doing something means nothing. This is a tourism ministry that has to date been unable to sell Belitung (look it up) to a global audience. And when you add in rough seas, it pays to be doubly careful. Not that they would, but run for the hills if they put you on Lion Air, because the pilots have managed to run over a cow landing a plane.
Sounds like it'll be an experience. I've had a friend get shipwrecked there when her boat sank, but that was her own fault for booking with a dodgy operator.
From the looks of it we're getting the five star treatment, but we'll see. Most of these fam trips make a huge effort to gloss over the ugly and paint a place rosy, but I've done a few less than stellar ones.
Spending a night in Rwanda and having a rat fall out of the roof and onto my bed wasn't quite what I was expecting, and the Chinese definition of 'five star' is wildly varied from city to city.
