Of course there is no evidence, it has never been tried....
At absolute worst, the crowd averages stay EXACTLY the same. At best, we create an event that boosts crowds for regular season games and clubs scramble to be a part of it for a bit of easy cash.
Of all of the issues that have been mentioned, I dont see a single one that would even difficult to overcome.
At worst the crowds are less than they would be at the 'home' teams ground. To exclude this possibility removes all credibility from your argument. Let's not get into removing the true 'home' teams home ground advantage, potentially giving the 'away' team the 'home' ground etc etc... Sometimes ideas aren't tried because maybe they are just stupid. Some type of reward for successful teams to be moved from their home ground. It's just ludicrous.
