Easts or nothing. Bondi - what's f*cking Bondi? The club isn't even at Bondi! What about other suburbs that have been Rooster territory for decades?

May as well be called the Kings Cross Twats.

For those voting eastern suburbs, where the f**k is your brain?

Were talking about brand recognition here

Eastern suburbs friggen what? It could be Eastern suburbs anywhere.

If you dont already know the game or how Sydney is senctioned you wouldnt have a clue where there talking about. It gives absolutely no recognition to the club except from the locals.

For god sakes NRL fans, stop taking so many head high tackles.
What about the Western Bulldogs in the AFL. Where the f**k is that!

How is that even relevant?

The Tigers are known offically as Wests which could be West anything but it doesnt pose an issue does it? Using Easts for the Roosters would be no different no matter what their fan base numbers are.

Whenever I think of the tigers i think of....THE TIGERS

wests or whatever doesnt even enter my mind, I still dont know or care after they changed from balmain so there goes your theory.

As many have stated there a 2 chances to gain recognition here. Through the name and the mascot/logo e.t.c

Most teams are commonly reffered to as the tigers, knights, roosters e.t.c as its east to remember and creates an instant image in the recievers head as to what team a person is talking about, the name is usually the backup when geting confused between codes.

The use of bondi, like stated gives the chooks a whole nother dimension of advertising and recognition ability.

For anyone who even has the slightest idea about advertising "not" suggesting bondi over something suburbs has lost it.

In my personal opinion the word 'suburb' shouldnt even be associated with the game anymore. It sounds small, old an is reffered to an 'ouset' of a city.
Were not playing footy in our backyards anymore!
Its time for you oldies to kneel over and accept that the game is progressing and changing.
We are seeing the introduction of more teams, interstate/overseas teams with gradual expansion.

Bonda has grown as a major tourist and general Australia wide hotspot and would fir well with the flaps.

Isn't it funny how things revert back to the old school.

In the 90's and 2k's, you had marketing genuises and their attempt to push the brand onto more people by changing the location name of different teams to Sydney Bulldogs, Sydney Roosters, Sydney Tigers, now you are seeing it revert back to the traditional names, and I for one think it's great. Even with the inclusion now of heritage jerseys for each club, it's really good to see the clubs now starting to embrace their past.

My theory? LOL.

My point was that it didnt matter what they called them as it really wouldnt change a thing if they did except maybe bringing back a name that the club used and was recognised for for just under 100 years. Thanks for agreeing with me.

Again, thanks for agreeing

You seriously think that the term "Bondi" will make them more marketable? Noone is going to support them just because they are now Bondi instead of Sydney City.

Nothing wrong with just Easts

And its time that you "youngies" pull your head out of your arses and start realising that this game was built on tradition. Its no coincidence that the strongest seasons we have had crowd and membership wise have been built of the back of the introduction of things like heritage jerseys, 100 year celebrations and game day inclusions of past greats.

This isnt the USA. Australian sporting fans dont follow franchises blindly and most identify with a team because their father, grand father, etc followed a team not because it had a trendy name.

The Oporto Bondi Burgers?
Brand recognition, instant sponsorship and links to the old roosters by way of the meat on the burgers.
And they can say to Willie "Just gotta go..."

What were you trying to achieve with this lil pic? That was an epic fail imo. Leave the witty sh*t to guys like me aiight?

I was actually referring to the idea of changing to Breakers.

But since you had a little hissy fit for some reason, it now refers to your "witty" self too.

aiight?

That suggestion of calling them the Breakers is just silly. And who says that "Roosters" has no connection to the Eastern Suburbs? Sure, there might not be too many Roosters running around in the backyards of Point Piper, Darling Point, or Rose Bay, but if Geoff Prenter did a little bit of research e would find out that the team is called "the Roosters" because The Sun Rises in the East, so that's where you hear the Roosters crow at the crack of dawn!

Its a fair point, I mean you have a look at other places like Waverly, Coogee, Bronte, Paddington (correct me if they might be part of South Sydney territory).

I personally think Eastern Suburbs or Eastern Sydney is a much better name, people would call them Easts no matter what.

I dont have a problem with the "Sydney" name though.

If they relocated to Perth they could be the red roosters!!

LOL

I don't think they have thought this through. Seems like a decision that's being made because a change of name back to their suburb of origin worked for the Bulldogs. If they wanted to get back in touch with their supporter base then they should go back to Easts.

If they're seriously thinking of changing their name because of one bad season then they'll appear flakey and spineless to their supporters as opposed to just the rest of the league.

Waverley/Bronte are definately Roosters territory. I live in Coogee and it definately feels like Rabbitohs territory, there are as many of those bunnies stickers on the back of cars here as there are in Maroubra.

As for Paddington, that's Waratahville
