Good signing if it happens, he'll improve greatly i suspect.

MacDougall can make way for all i care and move to the wing. The difference between Tahu and Macdougall - an average Tahu is still in the top 10 centres in the game. A good macdougall is still in the bottom 10 centres in the game.

I have seen Doogs in the last few seasons put it over the "best" in the game.

He might not play every game, and he might not be at his best every time he does play, but when Doogs is "good", he is on par with the very best.

Really? At his best in the last couple of years, I didn't see to many others put it over him.

Perhaps, but has there been a single game where macdougall 'put it' to an opposing centre? I dare say stats would show that against opposing centres he'd be about 20-40 in the try scoring tally.

This isn't a case of Price, Civoneceva playing on till 35 as rep quality players. MacDougall is not even country/city quality. He offers something, and that is experience. But he is not a match winner. He is solid, like a Hilder.

NRL teams with our lack of firepower can ill forward 'solid' in the outside backs.

Then nominate the games he put it over the best, and i'll check it out on NRL.com

I can recall one game where he kept inglis quiet in round 2 last year and a game where he was superior to Jennings. That's it.

My point is, Tahu is a bargain with a lot to offer. Who should make way - the progress of Likiliki, the overated yet dangerous Sau, or the solid old dog.

The answer is obvious.

I don't disagree with what you are saying regarding Tahu.

I just think Doogs when he is good is far better than bottom 10.

I don't need to nominate the games, you already have.

Few centres can keep Inglis quiet, and that night he dominated that edge. Jennings is another good example.

& Hodges is another there are plenty more

only problem with doogs is how injury prone he is, no way he should lose his spot to tahu

Would have to agree with Coby, McDougall has been pretty dam good for us over the past couple of years. He rarely has let the opposing centre get the better of him. I think his personality and experience has been good for the club also

The Dog made a few so called "classy" opponents look pretty ordinary in 2010. The old bloke is goes well.

Doogs is a one year prospect at best. Tahu could be here for another 3-4 years, and if he is prepared to play for substantially less than he was on at Parramatta then that makes him a great buy. If he sorts his sh*t out it will be a great thing for all involved.

I'd love to see that eventuate, but right now, I can't see any good coming out of us signing Timana.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but I do not support his signing one bit.

Winning a premiership is all about how much talent you can fit under the salary cap.
If we can get a 200 or 300k player for 100k, the only question is 'when can he sign'.

What games were you watching in '09/'10?

If Doogs hadnt retired from rep footy he would have just about been in the NSW side in 2010 he was going so well (when on the field).

Who's crack you smoking? Sorry, don't mean any harm. Just thought I'd use it because that's what everyone usually says to me!

I think Doogs has been nothing short of fantastic. When Aku robbed him of that try, I still saw the burning rage inside him to be the best player he can be. I don't think we can ask anymore of him.

I think Tahu will play and perhaps playing him in reserves would be the right thing to do. Doogs will get injured at some point and I'm sure Sau will lose form at some point as well. He is excellent cover I guess.

If NSW are fairdinkum and Doogs is playing well enough he should be picked. Even at the age of 36. Old in football terms but relatively young otherwise. He would let noone down.

Disagree with just about every pro-tahu post.

It would require him to have a massive change in not only his attitude but also his form.. recall that we're currently in 2010 and not the early 00's any more.

However if the club does sign him I really hope he does fulfil those requirements, because he was one of my favourite players back when he was.. good.

He'd need to really pick up his game to change my mind though..

You would have to say that T potenitally wanted to play here all along. I seriously think he is dirty on us for not bringing him home 18 months ago and he lashed out at the club in a badly directed fury. He has emotional immaturity to a degree but who hasn't really. I am sure I read Smithy got a call a while back from T wanting to come home to Newy. However the money wasn't there and neither was Smithy by then hence it fell through. I won't be sad if T does eventually sign here and if we can get a decent conract together I believe he will bleed his heart dry for this club. He only left cos we didn't pay him what he was worth to begin with anyway.

lol at the doogs squad around here.

'fantastic'
'nsw side'
Multiple beat downs of higher class opponents?

Fantasy. He has been solid with some good and some bad games. If i'm wrong then point out the games please, i bet the lot of you couldn't find 7 games over 2 years where doogs was anything but solid or worse. Solid in an average team does not make you fantastic. I doubt he's even picked up a single dally M point in 2 years.

If he HAD been as good as you make i'd be against Tahu replacing him.

Fact is this - those of us here in reality wouldn't blink if Tahu was a straight swap for MacDougall.

It is a hard thing to do to be in a position you don't want to be in, to be away from the people you love, to be committed to somewhere that is the last place you want to be. Some people have the ability to shine through all of that, some don't.

I really believe that T has been unhappy for a fair while and getting him back to a place where he is settled and happy will not only settle him off the field, but will settle him on the field. Newcastle is that place.

Rather than those that have been bagging him because of the way he has acted over the last 12 months, I feel sorry and concerned for him. He obviously hasnt been in a good way. Whether he plays for us or not I hope he finds some peace within himself.

(Obviously I hope he signs with us on the cheap and kills it next year too!)

Well I never said any of that.

What is fantasy is you saying that Doogs "good" is still in the bottom 10 in the game.

Fact is, he has out played those considered higher class. You pointed out two examples yourself.

I have no problem at all with Tahu. I just think its ridiculous that someone would suggest that Doogs playing good, is in the bottom 10 centres in the comp.
