I hear he is going on the Inglis diet, and we are signing him to play prop after christmas.

In all seriousness, he is a good size, aggressive, and can hurt on both sides of the ball.

Bump Nev to prop and play him in the second row.

Not a bad idea Macavity except for one thing, he's out injured tonnes as a Centre we'd never see him if he moved into the pack.

Geez Alex, are you serious re Tahu and Origin? I watched nearly all Parra's games in 2010 and Tahu was outplayed by his opposite most weeks. Idris played all over him and he didn't even finish the year in the centres. Please! Picking Tahu for Origin has got to go down as one of the more peculiar selections by NSW in recent memory. The bloke had no form at all. Even the Parra supporters I know could never understand that selection.

Not that my opinion matters much here but must say'd we'd be stupid not to sign him up for less 100k for a year. He ain't going anywhere else and he is NRL quality. Sure might not be origin quality anymore but I think he goes alright. I'm not sure but may having him out on the wing could be fun to watch as both Tahu and Aku go at it all year for top try scorer. If you were Sau and you had Tahu outside, you'd pass a hell of a lot more to!

I'm for taking him. Who is with me?

If you remember, NSW's plan was to pick centres with the best defence hence Cooper, Tahu and eventually Scott. How can you argue with this? Timana is far from a flashy player, we all know that though he is tough, a hard hitter and a momentum changer thats for sure.

I personally thought his first month or so of the season was good, to say anything less would be unfair. We also have to remember how long he sat on the sidelines with injury, suspension and just because he felt like it so making comments on his lack of form is pointless imo. He was slowly getting back into it before the sh*t hit the fan so I think if he sorts out all his dramas and can start training sooner than later he'll have a much better season to say the least.

If Tahu plays just one more season with us in 2011 MacDougall won't be able to retire until 2019 when he finally gets his try scoring record back.

Absolutely, it'd be the bargain of the century. If Tahu was happy to sign a 100-150k contract and was open to playing wing then we shouldnt even hesitate to make the offer. In my mind it would be more than a perfect replacement for Vuna. If we don't sign Tahu, McManus & Aku will be our wingers which is fine but if theres an injury who's our replacement? Kev? Lulia? Wes? McDonnell? Its not hard to see how good of a signing Tahu would be (under the right circumstances of course.)

Btw I'm not bagging our other options whatsoever, I think they're all good players and I'm proud of our depth but you just cant go past everything that Tahu can bring to the team.

The more i think about it, the more i think the only way we could sign him and get him under the salary cap would be to do a player swap.
I'd be happy to swap him for McDonnell, Lulia, Wes or Marv - and i'd think about Likiliki, Kev, Doogs or Jimmy.

I hope I haven't misunderstood but if you are considering swapping Tahu for Likiliki, Kev, Doogs or Jimmy, I'd say your crazy. I mean Doogs isn't going anywhere. Likiliki is one of the best up and coming centres in the game/world. Kev has done everything right and deserves to get a good shot at a first grade position at Newcastle. Jimmy Mac is also a great clubsman and I think most people in this forum would agree that we need more players like Jimmy Mac in the club/game.

I'd give them McDonnell, Lulia, Wes and Marv as some kind of Christmas package though. We ain't need them!

Bit of a reality check - Likiliki is a kid who is a 50/50 chance of becomming a regular firstgrader in the next few years - Tahu has won premierships, SOO series, played tests in both League and Union, scored nearly 100 firstgrade tries, is usually named in the best ever knights side etc etc etc.
Admittedly one guy has 10 years in front of him and the other has maybe 2, but they aren't in the same galaxy right now.

Likiliki has quite the expectation to live up to...

We must have salary cap left given all the players we missed out on and given we still have/had hopes of Houston playing with us in 2011. If he wants to play for cheap we must sign him.

As for Tahu and Origin - he was picked for a reason. His form pre-Origin was alright. If that us how an unhappy T plays, I'm more than happy to have a happy T killing it for us.

Junior Sau > Timana Tahu
Adam MacDougall > Timana Tahu

The delicate feelings of Timana Tahu will be crushed if he has to play on the wing. I say nay, we have wingers and we have centres that have long careers in front of them (minus Doogs) who are free of poor attitudes and emotional baggage.

Come on Roopy be honest if he wasn't a Knights junior you wouldn't want a bar of him..... Just for once come clean.
