What a bust Tahu has been. Awful when he's been playing, and now he's out for almost the rest of the season.

Astute by from the Tards.

I thought Tahu would be a walk in for one of the wallaby centre positions when he initially signed with the Warratahs. After his showings so far, i'm not so sure he would of made it.
An ex leaguie should make the cut though, and thats Ryan Cross. Tremendous game against the Crusaders, and been excellent all season.

Nah truthfully the Cross is doing real well.. meanwhile Tahu has been alright but is doing what he did when he left league..which is not get too involved...

NSW 60 Fiji Warriors 0
Centre Timana Tahu made a storming return from injury in the Waratahs' 60-0 thumping of the Fiji Warriors in a rugby trial on Friday night.
Tahu scored a try and set-up another as the Waratahs outclassed their lesser opponents in a 10-try to nil romp at EnergyAustralia Stadium in Newcastle before a 7,438-strong crowd.
Fullback Lachie Turner scored a double and contributed three from seven with the boot.
Coach Chris Hickey sent his strongest possible starting team on to the field for the opening half, with seven Wallabies enjoying their first run since the spring tour.
It was Tahu's first game back since being sent home from the tour with a hamstring injury and it didn't take long for the star league convert to announce his return.
NSW enjoyed the early possession and spent plenty of time in Fiji's 22 but were unable to turn possession into points until the 15th minute when Tahu broke the deadlock with one of his first touches of the night, crashing over for the first try.
Tahu delighted the Waratahs faithful again when he made a storming 40 metre run, splitting the defence, then drawing in the numbers, before off loading to winger Lote Tuqiri 10m out for another five-pointer.
With a 29-0 halftime lead, Hickey rang in wholesale changes, replacing everyone except lock Ben Mowen, Turner and Tuqiri.
The less-experienced Tahs, with Kurtley Beale replacing Daniel Halangahu at flyhalf, piled on 12 points in third of four 20-minute quarters and finished off their opponents with tries to winger Peter Playford and Halangahu and Beale in the last.
Al Baxter captained the Waratahs in the absence of Phil Waugh, who was ruled out on Thursday after rolling his ankle at training.
The Fiji Warriors performed a traditional cibi war dance proir to the match as the players enjoyed the evening's cool change after temperatures had reached 32 degrees.
Coach Hickey said the 60-0 whitewash still served as a chance for his rep players to get some game time and for him to assess the squad two weeks from the start of the Super 14.
"Look the scoreboard probably wasn't our focus all the time, it was a matter of getting some of our players game time and some of the tourists, it's probably been eight, nine weeks since they've actually played a game, so from that point of view it was a good hit out from them,'' Hickey said.
He praised local boy, Tahu's return to rugby.
"Tahu showed some really good touches there, with some really good footwork and some offloading, I'm very pleased with his performance,'' Hickey said.
Tahu said he had no physical complaints and was looking forward to facing off with Stirling Mortlock and the Brumbies on Thursday.
"It was good to be back here, mixed emotions, this is where it all started for me, it was only a trial but for me personally, it's good to be home.''
NSW WARATAHS 60 (Lachie Turner 2, Timana Tahu, Lote Tuqiri, Tom Carter, Ben Mowen, Peter Playford, Kurtley Beale, Daniel Halangahu tries, penalty try; Turner 3 cons, Beale 2 cons) bt FIJI WARRIORS 0 in a trial match at Newcastle

Very ordinary again from Tahu..Horne is the star of NSW's backline. Tahu is not a centre!

He has great hands. Tahu can pass just fine when he has to. The Waratahs backline is looking good.

Not a fan of Tahu. Bit harsh on Carter getting dropped after playing inside every game last year for the Tahs. Seems like Tahs/Wallabies have to pick him because he's Tahu and won't be giving blokes who deserve to start. I rate Rob Horne and Ryan Cross a lot higher than Tahu. I'm sure he will come better though.

Timana Tahu quits rugby union to return to the NRL with the Eels

By Josh Massoud
July 22, 2009 Rugby Union convert Timana Tahu will return to the NRL next season after agreeing to a three-year deal with his old club Parramatta this week.
Tahu and the Eels finalised negotiations on Monday, with the shock switch to be formally announced later this week.

The 29-year-old finished his rugby league career at Parramatta in 2007 after signing a four-year deal with the ARU worth nearly $2 million.

But the switch has not been an enjoyable one for the Newcastle junior, who has spent much of this year’s Super 14 competition on the bench for the Waratahs and failed to claim a start with the Wallabies.

Speculation arose earlier this season that Tahu was poised to join the Roosters, but he denied a return to league was on the cards.

Unbeknown to most, however, was a get-out clause in his ARU contract that enabled Tahu to leave at the end of this season.

He has decided to exploit that clause with Parramatta.

His signing is a further coup for the club, which recently snared representative props Justin Poore and Shane Shackleton and has began negotiations to wrap up in-form superstar Jarryd Hayne for another three years.

When we get an ARC up and running. How short-sighted was the decision to axe the series after only one year. A political/ego driven decision.

Get ready for more league recruitment as we have another Super franchise to fill in the expanded Super 15. If they open the purse strings we could see some very high profile signings. I can think of a few Storm players who would make an impact on and off the field.

They cant and they wont... there might be one... and only one... the ARU are broke....they canned the ARC because it was a black whole where money wasgoing down the toilet... it was too big to maintain and too small to actually help... they should have had 6 teams only and it might have been sustainable... with the new melbourne team, and baring a mirracle it willbe melbourne, they will have five teams that will be enough... if they can get enough youngsters involved.

That would do. Five teams - possibly a sixth with the Western Sydney Rams and we could have a viable local comp following the Super rugby season. Some local rugby while the tri-nations etc are on.

O'Neill is already making noises about another go at an ARC style comp - maybe one involving the existing franchises. The only other alternative is to boost club rugby in Sydney & Brisbane. Can't see that happening.
