Take Action on the Development.

I was down in Cronulla Mall yesterday.

There was a little stall set up by the anti Sharks Development mob.

They had letters printed out from the stopthesharksdevelopment website and some other hysterical and alarmist leaflets as well.

I got speaking to one of the ladies there. Poor old dear really had no idea about the proposed development at all but I let here have her say, asked her a few questions that she was unable to answer and then I moved on.

A lot of what she was saying was just untrue and fanciful.

All a bit sad and pathetic to tell you the truth.

Frenzy.

Luckily the letters wont make the cut off of Monday anyway.

That's not a given jc. They will probably be hand delivered before COB tomorrow. Besides, the NSWDOP is a government department. They play with deadlines at a whim.

I know, I work for one of these Government Departments and deadlines mean f**k all. If something "needs" to be accepted it is. Just no one in the public knows it happens like that.

Take nothing for granted

I bet it didn't look like a geniused old man made it though.

Actually, one form letter had around 6 issues raised in support of the development.

Four of them were untrue and will quickly be dismissed. The fifth was marginal and not an issue you would think would be considered at all.

Highly amusing nonetheless.

I love hearing te anti nuts saying lots of sharks members don't want this to go ahead. What a joke. Where were they at the vote when about 4 people voted against it? Too busy knitting or watching matlock?

Most objectors I know are in there 30s, old enough to be wise to the BS spread by the Sharks.

...and the 6th?

Saving the Sharks which may or may not be true. But not a planning consideration.

One may be a founding member of your club. Others life members who commented on the 18,000 members, only 400 turned up to the rally and around 50 were anti-development protestors.

I think there was a comment about holding in it in the only available open space.:D

They value the amenity of the area and the environment. Quite common to hear Sharks' life members say let it die, the area is far morre important than the opinions of supporters who live at Engadine and Menai.

Amenity again. What amenity do you speak of?

And don't say playing fields. They are locked to the public and privately owned.

Answer the question.

Where were these local sharks members when the vote and initial sharks club consultation and meeting happened?

Capsis didn't even turn up to voice an opinion the coward.

It always amuses me when people who are losing an argument attempt to look to some arcane notion of "house rules" or "standing orders" as their case for dispute or justification.

The reality is that the development antagonists have had 60 days (twice the normal amount) of public display to mount a credible argument to discount the development proponent's proposal and they've come up with sweet FA.

What did they come up with?

Zilch!

Lots of unfounded, hysterical opinion and indignant breast beating but not any credible evidence to establish or reinforce their case. No expert research, evidence or conclusion, just a bunch histrionic clap-trap more befitting a court room scene in the movie Mississippi Burning.

No doubt the Department of Planning will give the NIMBY's case the credence it deserves.
