Or perhaps blame the coach for picking a fullback that would never make a kick return on his own.

TUIAKI TAKES NEXT IMPORTANT STEP IN RECOVERY
By Wayne Cousins

1/06/2010 5:07:28 PM

In a positive sign for Wests Tigers, winger Taniela Tuiaki has been given the green light to take the next important step in his recovery.
Tuiaki will now start running without assistance as he attempts to overcome a shocking ankle injury.
The powerhouse winger has been sidelined since suffering the broken ankle in round 21 last year. He has been working very hard under the eye of Wests Tigers Rehabilitation Manager Andrew Leeds.
“Taniela was advised on Monday by the specialist to bump up the load of his running. We will see how he responds to that over the next month,’’ Leeds said.
“He has been running in a harness which is partial weight bearing. We are now going to see how he tolerates full weight bearing running.”
Leeds confirmed that a return date or round for Tuiaki remains indefinite.

Sad news but I have to say not unexpected. Once the state of his injury was known I didnt think he'd be back on the field. I hope WT grab the opportunity and can use him in the promotional / recruitment side of the club.

What a tragedy, this bloke probably bought an extra 1,000 spectators through the gates every game with his bullocking runs to the tryline, you would get to your feet when the ball came his way in anticapation of a try coming up. I hope the Wests Tigers put on a large benefit night for him and the Supporters can thank him also.

It doesnt sound 100% he will never play again but enough to prevent a contract at this stage. Lets hope another 6 months and it may come good. As MU mentioned a similar injury he suffered i have a friend who broke his foot just hoping over a fence 2 years ago and still rooted when ever he gives it a good workout. Pity TNT didnt at least get the NRL top try scorer last year, would have been something special to take with him into retirement. Anyway as others have said maybe some sort of Pacific island liason and talent position within the club would be fitting. He was also loved not only by Tigers supporters but NRL supporters in general enjoyed watching him play..

there is an update on the wests tigers webiste. www.weststigers.com.au

NB - No decision has been made (could be good or bad) to sign him up.

Second, Humphreys says that recent medical assessment has been quite encouraging.

Over Xmas they will make a call. One good thing about this is that it will likely put off all other clubs. Whether thats in Taniela's interests who knows.

Now have a few seeds been thrown out their to scare a few clubs away?? Lets hope so, a year older and coming back fro a serious injury are not good signs for 2011, but TNT is not your average player

As nice as a round of pills sounds, i'm sure it's very likely that I would still be aggravated that a bloke who, on his day, was arguably the best winger in the world has had his career ended because someone was too scared to take a hit up.

I honestly believe that blaming Moltz or Sheens for TT's injury is a bit rich.

What if Moltz passed him the ball and he ran and scored a length of the field try?

It is ridiculous to blame Moltzen.

A fullback passing the ball to a winger on a kick return happens 10 times a game at least.

Happens every match, Full back gets ball and throws it to the winger to make the return slog. Lets face who would you prefer to tackle Moltzen or TNT. The way I see it Moltzen throws to TNT, TNT make a big charge down field amd Moltzen backs up to score--a nice story that didnt come true
