Gaz was not small !

For a back Gaz was not small but today some of the backs are bigger again.

105kgs is not a big forward as some here suggest, it is just another mobile back rower.

Sims record at the judiciary is poor, so he will have to contain his aggressive approach, otherwise he will spend an eternity on the sideline, so he is already hamstrung.

Sims will provide more of the same of what we already have, which to date has proved ineffective and he will provide no real point of difference.

I'm neutral on this signing. Some on the forum say better than sliced bread, others underwhelmed. Some years back seemed a real firebrand. Reported coin of $400k is a lot for a bloke not setting the world on fire.Hasnt impressed me for years but good luck to him, he joins the conga line of players we just seem to end up with.

Excellent signing. Will add some mongrel to our pack complimenting Packer and Frizzel. Now we need to add a smart and crafty Hooker that has the ability to guide the team around the paddock and is able to pass the ball.

Not sure what mongrel you think Packer and Frizzel bring.

Both are very good players but hardly intimidating or doing the shitty bordering on illegal stuff that implies mongrel.

Klemmer has mongrel.

Matty Johns reckons Simms has "told the Knights that tonite was his last game for the club".

Not sure how that works unless they have agreed to part ways tonight and the Knights are yet to inform the Dragons?

Either way it seems that he is not happy there and wants out ASAP.

You would think the Knights would grant him a release after we did so for them with Peter M.

Would be handy to have vs the bullgrubs.

So if what is being reported is true and he is coming next week we have signed him for 3 and a half seasons . I would like to know what that is based on because I haven't seen him play a decent game since he left the Cowboys and I don't think on form he would crack our top 17 . Hope we payed peanuts for him because that's all he is worth .

Good signing, agressive and mobile back rower with his best years in front of him (at 25). We have a very solid pack.

Now we just need to sign a half back and a outside back. I'd love to see Keary/Bird or Hastings/Bird, with Bird to play centre or fullback and cover Widdop at second receiver. Bring back the locals :)

With our injuries he will at the moment.

Wether or not he stays there will depend on his form surely.

I agree he has been poor at the Knights but we know what he is capable of and is only 26.

Don't agree, that it's a very small pack. Packer, Masoe and Ah Mau are not small. Back row of Thompson, Cooper, Frizell, JDB and Sims isn't tiny. A good player with the limited interchange rule, in my humble opinion.

So we signed a midget forward. Hmm

Hardly a midget considering he'd be by far one of the tallest in our pack and bigger than some of the games best back-rowers. This is a great signing for the price of $400k as it allows us to have a strong starting pack and even stronger interchange bench if Mary puts Tariq at starting lock and JDB to prop rotation (where he should be playing).

A pack of Ah Mau/Rein/JDB/Frizzell/Thompson/Sims and a bench with impact in Packer/Cooper/Matthews/Masoe or Havilli is a pack to be feared that will give us a huge amount of go-forward.

As much as I think Host will be a star of the future he's not ready at the moment which is shown in the NSW cup as he's hardly dominating, and by the time he is ready there will be a spot for him in the pack.

All we need is an organising half in Keary and a competent winger for next year, then there will be no more excuses of us finishing anything below Top 6

Sims is tallish and that's it.

Sam Burgess has got him by 12 kgs and a few cms for God's sake.

Sims is no JWH ,Thaiday, Burgess (any of them), Kassiano, Woods, Tamou, Scott, Parker but to name a few.

He will only intimidate if he uses thuggery and that won't cut it at the judiciary.

JDB at prop how can that be?

He is another lightweight forward, who now thinks he is a 13 and a ball player to boot and thats by his own account.

We need a 7 above all other things and here we are buying more hac forwards.

If you are going to buy forward then for god sake get a real good one because we already have enough drones.

Dragons Sign Tariq Sims

Mon 30th May, 09:00PM A A

The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced that Tariq Sims has agreed to terms on a three-year contract that will see him join the Club next season, until at least the end of 2019.
The local Gerringong Lions junior, who can play up front and in the second-row, is presently under contract to the Newcastle Knights and has played 97 NRL games to date.
Sims, 26, made his first-grade debut for the North Queensland Cowboys during the 2011 campaign and spent four seasons at the Townsville-based club prior to joining the Knights in 2015.
The former Junior Kangaroo has represented the Fiji Bati on five occasions and has been selected in the past five consecutive NSW Country Origin teams (2012-16).
Sims will join the Dragons in November.
