Taylor as a coach

We need a coach who can get the best out of our juniors. Someone they respect and will play for.

I think Cleary is our man. He already has a relationship with Pascoe and he got the best our of ET....I reckon he could get the best out of Brooks/Moses

We had the ball for 37% of the first half, two forward passes from d/h,kicked out on the full from a restart, Moses threw a shocker of a pass for Koro to collect and the Storm pick up six points from a blatant forward pass and people want to hang the coach. Who would want to be a coach

The main thing I want from the coach on game day is to pick the side that gives the team the best chance of winning...

This has happened rarely this year...

I dont really go with the argument

Taylor wasn't missing tackles or dropping balls. Of course he was not, not but his team were.

No doubting he would be frustrated and some lf these mistakes are purely individuals switching off.

Brutally though in this industry,The side you coach, your responsible for and if you complete at 40% you cant just throw your hands up and say its all the players. Of course players are responsbile for their own performance and they do cop a hammering if they put in a shocker.

Coaches need to win games, thats the bottom line. They need to find the reasons why we make some brain dead errors. If players are missing tackles and dropping balls its a poor reflection on themselves as well as something along the line in terms of tactics, preperation, morale and the mental side of the game.

Mate go on the official site and he has his band of foot soliders clearing him of any blame.

They will blame Oneiil or Farah or the refs. Anything to absolve Taylor

I got howled because they think I hate the bloke.

I dont hate him im just not a big fan of his record of 14 wins from 39 games.

He came in talking a big game about improving the defence and said it was easy to improve the defence.

I wouldnt havebeen so ahrsh on him if he didint turn up discrediting other coaches and saying certain things were easy to turn around.
Pretty lame Eddie.
Running off to another forum to cry about members on the official forum.

too true, and in a close competition no side can afford to carry passengers from week to week.

Talent identification is critically important. JT cannot cut it

I for one enjoy eddies posts, he is always on the money IMO. There's no agenda bullshit, he tells it how it is, good or bad. Not gunna lie, the only reason I ever go to the official site is to read posts by guys like Eddie, Balmain boy etc. as a whole the site is pretty terrible though.

It makes me sad that this site isn't more popular,10 years ago it was buzzing. Even though fans would have different opinions I always felt the fans on here all wanted the same thing. Whereas I feel the official site is full of agendas and bullshit.

Appreciate the wrap Vic thanks mate.

Yeah this site used to be all time during the Sheens years. Nothing was off limits. Has kind of died off.

Must admit I have not posted here much lately. There were some real characters on here.

Yeah even though we had sheens supporters and the anti sheens brigade I still felt like everyone was pretty open and wanted the same thing.

On the official site now I feel like people react to posters as opposed to views. It's not quiet as bad as the souths forum in here but it's not a huge way off it either.

I've been a member for a while and I think the forum is lacking passion and vibe because we, as WT supporters and people who care about the team and want it succeed (yes, silly us), are tired of things.

Its been the same old, same old for years. New faces but same old crap. Perennial underachievers, promising talent that doesnt reach potential (at least at WT), mediocrity accepted by our teams management year in, year out, with negligible to no accountability. The nice guys club. A great outfit to support for the family but a professional football club in this cutthroat business- not WT.

WT are still my club, I cant support anyone else but by god they sure as hell make it difficult.

OTT that's exactly what I was ropeable about that the dumb prick conveniently deflected the teams abysmal deficiencies by unnecessarily harping on about teddy playing origin.

I don't give a f**k about teddy playing origin when I support a substandard team with an inept & illiterate coach who won't pick the best hooker in nsw in our starting team & who thinks that playing our most competent backrower to play in a specialised position like the no. 9 is best for the team!!

Time for Oneill & Pascoe to show some balls ! Toovey & Cleary must be interviewed soon as we can not continue with this imbecile !

So much truth here.

All the power plays with Farah are getting tiresome. He is our best no 9 by miles. He is one of our best players. Yes he is overpaid but not playing him is not the best way to remediate that situation.

ET has been great but he isn't a hooker. Why continually play him there. Fair enough if it's desperately required do it but we didn't pick a dummy half. I view Halatau as a backrower or reserve who can also play some dummy half.

I completely agree. There is much more traffic at the official site but it's nowhere near as good as here. It also runs like a dog a lot. This site runs great.

The only problem is the lack of traffic on this site.

Back on topic you know things are bad when Ch 9 commentary team questioned the wisdom of not having a specialist hooker in the team at the start of the match,if only JT and his selectors could see the blatant obvious the WT would be better off.

Part of me wonders whether there is something else, someone else in the mix here. My logical side says surely someone can't be that silly to do some of the things that are happening. Then the emotional side says when it gets to egos anything is possible. Then when that occurs I wonder where club management is? I just can't figure it out.

Magpies Forever, imagine if they were listed on the ASX their shares would be floating around the $0.05 mark.

benched tiger, what would any of the Ch 9 commentary team know, compared to Taylor and O'Neill as players what have Johns, Fittler, Sterling, Finch and Gould achieved ?

I think it's all about Taylor's ego and that is what concerns me. If he had a period of making the right decisions consistently I'd feel more confident in him but when it comes to Robbie he appears to be crazy.

Tiger05 I agree it would seem to be egos rather than the other but in that case where is WT management to haul things / people / agendas into line? Their general silence is deafening and when they do say something its to issue statements of support for Taylor.

If they are in support of punting Farah and I assume they are from things up to date. The basic situation is Farah is obstinately standing his ground, at least for contract payout, if not the much stated desire to retire a one club man, and remains unwilling to consider 'other options', then they (WT management) should pay Farah out, tell him to p** off, and support the coach. The continued dragging out of things is destructive to all concerned.

At this stage I just dont care even next season looks a mess, we have had 3 players take up unwarranted options (either monetary value or being here at WT) on their contracts for next season- Moses, Brooks & Sironen, at this stage we have Farah staying put with the continued disruption, Cherrington on the outer, Liddle not ready, Ballin on failing knees, a weak backrow and to add to the joy the real possibility of loosing Elijah Taylor because we dont have the money to keep him.

I just cant figure it.

To have a debate and a interesting forum you need people who are passionate and have opposing views. It seems this forum has now shrank to a handful of faithful all of who are sitting on the same side of the fence. In the past this was a great forum, some very clever people would push the boundaries to the limit.

I am not sure why the interest has dropped off but i guess these things go in cycles. As for the other forum, there seem so be pretty to much two camps on most subjects and a couple of swingers...a bit like our up coming election.

Anyway guys just to throw a rat in the ring, I am still willing to give Taylor a crack till at least the end of the season and maybe next year. I have seen improvements, things like our goal line defence, kicking game except goal kicking and the SC department that Taylor put in place has done wonders with our injury toll. I just do not think we will ever achieve anything if we keep turning over coaches. Okay if a real top notch coach like Bellyache landed on our door step, I would say go for it, but for a Cleary or a Toovey I am not sure. I still think there are to many holes in our roster and to much inexperience and fingers crossed 2017 the worm will start to climb sharply.

Okay guys go for it I have thick skin..Iam ready for the barrage

Im happy to give him till end of season but if the Farah situation is not resolved I dont see any improvement for 2017. We just dont have the funds tor recruit those required players to fill obvious gaps and our roster has been inhibited by Moses, Brooks & Farah taking up large chunks of 2017 $$$. In addition Sironen soaking up $$$$ that should go to keeping Elijah Taylor- and to add extra problems with new signings the need to keep $$$ free to fight for retaining Tedesco. If next year is already shot, then lets leave Taylor as is.

Query on Tedesco- how much value on friendship and liking the WT club versus equal if not more $$$ elsewhere and greater possibility of success there than at WT? Even in the best of circumstances with everything going right I dont see premiership contention for us for several years. Players have only limited time at the top. Gets tot he crux of our problem at WT - lack of success = difficulty in recruiting good players.

All I want is a rational coach, reasonable to good playing roster and a coherent playing style. Is that too hard? Seems to be............................

Winning or being competitive creates interest. As much as I disliked Sheens' at least in that era we were competitive to an extent with '05, '10 and '11 being quite successful. Throw in Marshall, Ellis, Farah, Hodgson and people believed we had a half decent side.

The last 4 years have been diabolical. It will only take one year, get back in the 8 and appear to be going forward and the followers will come out of the woodwork.
