i'd love to see lyon have a go at 5/8th... there's no question he would perform better than barrett and anasta

but if we can actually get the ball out to him frequently, he would probably be worth more tries to us playing at centre

Jamie is a skillful player, but that is the one of the most stupid statements I have ever heard!!!!!

On the note of Lyon in 5/8..... Surely you can't expect him to get a run in first grade..... He'd need to develop his game in premier league firstly, which I then believe our first grade team would greatly miss his presence!!!!

I don't think his game would change a hell of a lot personally. He is a good passer of the ball already - if he took on the line looking to break it or set up his outside supports like he does now anyway its all fine. His defensive workload wouldn't be any different either as he usually makes twenty odd tackles a game most games.

Good point Colonel, I was more thinking of the impact on the team rather than the impact it would have on his individual game

My pre-game opinions on the named side:

Wags' strangth is his defence. Dogs danger players are Anasta, Thurston and Sherwin. This week Wags has to play a position where his strong defence can impact the games of these three.

Pack is good, hard-working. No "flair" players, but the back row guys have enough flair between them to create something if its there.

Vaealiki copped a knock in the trials, and Doggies centres are rookies, so I think Smith is using the early part of the game to have a look at how Muzza/Sideshow goes in the centres, before bringing Vaealiki on for reduced gametime to ease back in.

My only concern is how the ball will get to the backline through Wags. If they come up with another way to do it on field (eg Hopkins, Morris, Dykes palymaking trio) then great, Wags can wear the No 6. But I agree its a week to week thing, and seems imo to not be the strongest premiership winning combo there.

C'mon the Eels! 8)

Your the man Halfy.

I've wanted to see Lyon at 5/8 for years, he has very good hands.
