I'm pretty surprised Simonsson's been named. Heard from a pretty close relative of his that he was a long way off.

From a development point of view we got a lot of players who are clogging up the path ways atm.
The following merkins have been named in open age teams while eligible for Jersey Flegg:

Penisini
Komolafe
Arthur
Mataele
Loizou

Plus Sean Russell would be playing NRL or reserve grade. Looking at the Flegg team it’s hard to think who is being blocked from playing reserve grade that deserves a shot. There’s a couple of promising forwards there but if they were as good as Mataele I’m sure they’d be playing.

We may all be shocked and see Simonsson as well.
Surprising though if Cini or Lumelume aren't top 30 they were seemingly ahead of Loizou in the trial especially Knights trial. Unless Loizou was injured as well
There u go peeps...Simonsson in.
Loizou is coincidentally #17....BUT in reserves
Cini and Lumelume in the centres and Dunster and Komolafe wingers.
This probably shows where Loizou is viewed at the moment

So I am assuming going off this list if multiple players make there club debut in same game in goes in numbered order.

So it will look like this

828 - Josh Hodgson
829 - Matt Doorey
830 - J'maine Hopgood
831 - Jirah Momoisea
832 - Jack Murchie

Interesting we only had 3 new players debut for the club all of last year. Which isn't a lot.

Monty Betham and Larry are the two maybe worth keeping an eye on how develop along with the 2nd rower Jock Brazel. I've not heard of most the side

Laizou at this point almost seems like a massive waste of a top 30 spot while Cini seems hard done by. Perhaps the club got this one wrong.
And maybe the Rein re signing also if Yates and Hands where looking better. I however don't mind Rein.

Loizou is part of the Rouse Hill quartet that BA brought through from Jake's team when they were kids he was more then likely going to get looked after.

Interesting Round 1 team list! Brad Arthur seemingly signalling a few things here:

- true to his off-season word that Jake will be playing big minutes as #7 in NSW Cup this season, rather than be an automatic 10-min #14
- an all forward bench (14-17) - Murchie and Makatoa were givens, and seems Greig and Momoisea currently ranked ahead of Rodwell and Ogden
- the plan for releiving Hodgson at dummy half before/after halftime (and in event of injury) is not clear... Rein is in #21, but perhaps the main plan this week is Cartwright (as part of edge forward bench rotation)?
- with Simonssen named (but also reported maybe not ready?) it seems Lumelume is the only other/preferred backline option in the 22... so maybe Lumelume is now official top 30 (and could be the smoky late inclusion)?

Well I for one am glad BA stuck to his word and left JA out of the 17, as depleted as we are

I think Carty is the only one capable of giving Hodgo a spell, we'll see.

It will be a miracle if we manage to jag a win here, not impossible tho
Agree.

And yeah, I'm not overly hopeful of getting the result this week either.

When the squad gets cut to 19 (assuming that still happens) we'll get an idea of Simonssen's fitness and the plan for Hodgson relief/cover.

If Lumelume is in the final 19 then it's an indicator there's a chance Simonssen doesn't play.

And if either Rein or Jake Arthur remains in the final 19 then Brad Arthur hasn't formulated an alternate plan from among the top 17 - but personally I think Cartwright is the preferred "first choice" dummy half relief/cover for the season.
