The following merkins have been named in open age teams while eligible for Jersey Flegg:

Penisini
Komolafe
Arthur
Mataele
Loizou

Plus Sean Russell would be playing NRL or reserve grade. Looking at the Flegg team it’s hard to think who is being blocked from playing reserve grade that deserves a shot. There’s a couple of promising forwards there but if they were as good as Mataele I’m sure they’d be playing.

what a group of studs

id say having guys like rankin, ogden and rein in key positions year on year is a problem.

You have to wonder what the plan is for Hodgson. I think if he plays 80, he will tire out and be f**ked by the end of the game.

And have they decided that they f**ked up late last year with Waqa Blake playing on the wing? It's the same backline that played the last two games last year, but Simmonson and Blake swapping around.
I don't think that was in dispute, given the evidence.

Most likely we have some older backups precisely because all the talented younger ones are locked up on contract at other clubs.

Rein is on the bench in reserve grade, hardly a 'key position', and we don't know where Rankin would be playing if Russell was fit. Probably in the halves like in the Panthers trial. Now Hands (24 this year) is filling in there. He's not keeping a young fella out of the team, but maybe if Talagi was fit he would be there instead. Ogden is 27, hardly old for a middle forward, plus he is only one of 5 middles in the team, but one of only two good enough for the top 30.

Interesting Round 1 team list! Brad Arthur seemingly signalling a few things here:

- true to his off-season word that Jake will be playing big minutes as #7 in NSW Cup this season, rather than be an automatic 10-min #14
- an all forward bench (14-17) - Murchie and Makatoa were givens, and seems Greig and Momoisea currently ranked ahead of Rodwell and Ogden
- the plan for releiving Hodgson at dummy half before/after halftime (and in event of injury) is not clear... Rein is in #21, but perhaps the main plan this week is Cartwright (as part of edge forward bench rotation)?
- with Simonssen named (but also reported maybe not ready?) it seems Lumelume is the only other/preferred backline option in the 22... so maybe Lumelume is now official top 30 (and could be the smoky late inclusion)?
Or simon is not fit and we get dispensation

Looks like we’ll have Black eyed Peas to look forward to tomorrow night. I hope they don’t Phunk with my heart.

We could be very good. But who improves in our side?
Who stays at same level?
Who declines?
How are new additions to losses?

I'll break it down as I am off today.

1.Guth - Same 7.5
2.Sivo - Same 7.5
3.Penisini - Improves 6 --> 7.5
4. Waqa - Improves - Poor season last and contract year 4.5 --6/7
5. Russel - I'd say a slight improvement on Simmonson 5.5 - 6/6.5

So our backline goes from 31.5 ---> 35/36

Depth improves with Cini,Haze,Russel more ready and Sivo fit who missed half the season and just the loss of Opacic

6 D.Brown - 7.5 --> 8/8.5 Improves
7.Moses - 8.5 Same

So we gain maybe a point here. 16--> 17

Starting middle
Jnr --> Same 8
Rcg--> Same 8
Matto--> Same 8

I think Hopgood may start but Matto is still there so its even

24 points

2nd Row

11. LANE -8.5 --> 7.5 Most likely doesn't reach same level.
12. Papali --> 7.5 Defense was exposed
Papali replacement--> Doorey/Bryce --> 5 ( both have potential to get 7)
From 16 --> 12.5 but possible to get to 15.

Hooker
Mahoney 2022 form - 6
JH can be anything from 6 -->8 But if injured we get a 4 in Rein

Bench

JA - 3 --> improves to 4.5
N.Brown - 4
Marata - 6 in games played
Kafusi - 5.5
Makatoa - 4.5 Improves to 5 with experience.

Hopgood -->6/7
Murchie --> 6
Greig --> 5

We go from 23 --> 27/28

Possible additions to depth

Mataele,Asi,Moimsea

Losses to depth R.Stone (Missed season)Perham

And may even add a player so depth has improved.

I give double points for halves and hooker and half for 3 off bench players and not many for depth

2022 TOTAL = 130/131
2023 TOTAL = 134 if Rein is hooker 138 / 142 if Hodgson stays fit.

Overall we actualy should be a better side once I factor in all the numbers. That's quite strange as I didn't expect that.
I guess a lot depends on form and if guys can remain the same level.
Hopefully defence has improved
Hodgo > Mahoney
Doorey > Papalli
Plus Hopgood who imo will be very good
so add another 3 points.

Why is it foul and predatory?

It is a value exchange. The 83 year old man provides financial value and the 19 year old Woman provides youth and beauty?

Could you not say the 19 year old is taking advantage of the 83 year old? and that it is foul and predatory behaviour as well?

83 year old gets to bang a hot bird in her prime and the 19 year old gets access to his financial resources and network.
Mods, we need a Foul and Predatory thread, pronto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
