Team List Tuesday: Rnd 25 v Panthers (Friday 3rd Sept) - Who Will BA Rest?

AFL teams use to do this they would rest most of there full strength team a week out before the finals. The WA teams did it if they were travelling last round and already had a position sown up. Thats why they brought in the pre finals bye.

It will be interesting if the NRL are happy with clubs doing this a week out from finals. And maybe look at something similar next year.

I agree with the Club here no benefit whatsoever playing our full strength team this week. Our best chance to win the premiership is simply giving everyone a week off this week seeing as we wont get a double chance or a break in the finals

It is if you go into kick off expecting us to get flogged by 50+.

Forget the jerseys they are wearing and look at it as an opposed training session by the Panthers against a reserve grade side. Have fun and enjoy watching some new faces that we might see more of next year.

These guys like Perham, Rodwell and Loizou could be part of our future and they are getting first hand experience against one of the best squads assembled in recent times... invaluable when there is nothing to lose.

If these players aren’t going out with a licence to break some faces, I’ll be very disappointed

Looking at the comments, it’s fairly obvious that BA was going to be criticised whatever side was put out.

Been accused in the past of hammering his team into the finals and not taking that seriously enough. So he rests players who have hardly missed a game to freshen them up for the finals.

Then if the team gets beat heavily, bang , he’s an idiot for not picking his first choice. At least with no reserve grade comp, players who have not had many games and have trained continuously get experience , and the rest for the others should be of benefit.

I'm not sure who Rodwell or Louizou are - but i'm happy to sacrifice them to take out Cleary at then end of the game.

Rodwell is a nsw cup middle forward. About 22 or so. Played 20’s with south’s and did the nrl offseason with tigers but didn’t get a contract. Goes ok, more of a worker.

Loizou, is a young back who started the year in flegg. Not sure but may have played a NSW cup game. Part of Russell/JA group. Haven’t really seen him play but must be promising if the club have him in the bubble (had a development contract)

Not at all. We put in a skeleton side. We know why we're doing it. If we get flogged it's a totally different team that takes the field next week. I don't think it will effect morale at all.

It's better that we rest him now rather than having him go off half cocked before the semis.

I really don't think anyone disagrees with BA' s resting so many players. I'll only give him shit if Lussick is injured.
