I grew up with a pretty well known NRL player (not from the sharks) and i remember him once telling me, "It's actually harder to be dropped from the first grade team than it is to get into it. it didnt matter how great or how shit you were".

Either Wright or Ayshford over Leutele is an interesting one. I actually think that Leutele is our most reliable centre choice in defence and attack. Wright is the death-knell of 80% of all attacking raids, and Ayshford is defensively lazy (see his defensive miss in the trial highlights for proof http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDsyFtH2l0E - spectacularly awful)...Mills-esque for sluggishness.

I have faith in Aysh coming on, maybe Wright too...but the safe choice imo would have been with the youth this time

Thanks mate. Doesn't have a profile on our web site and not selected. Injured for a while?
Reece Davidson

Leutele was never even a remote chance of being selected in the top 17. He may be good enough put Shark politics was never going to let it happen.

Sometimes the least talented players ARE the best players for the situation.

Just sayin'

Details please Frenz, even cryptic is acceptable.... just... less cryptic than the above.

THAT isn't good.
Gardner in front of Brown, Penani, etc for 5/8?
Where's he gunna hide when we don't have the ball?

Defending at fullback ide say.
Gards is an attacking, speedy type player, so at least we are heading in the right direction. does he have a kicking game? I remember people (Including me) saying that he should be given a go in the halves. wasnt he training there outside of normal hours, in the off season or late last season as well??

Huh?
Was being picked in the top squad. = true
Was offered good money for a fringe first grader = Double true. Offered overs by the Sharks
Went somewhere else = Could only be for money, as he was playing first grade for the Sharks when he made his decision.
Good riddance. = Very true. We now get to keep better juniors on reasonable money.

Don't understand which cold hard fact, you think is crap.

The Sharks offered him the complete low end of the top 25 only to come to the table when they realised the panthers had offered a contract.

Was not offered good money at all until it was too late & eben then it was a solid portion under what the panther offered him off the bat.

Yes he went somewhere else because he was looking out for numero uno, which is fair, he did it because he didn't feel the sharks were being serious. He wanted to stay but also wanted to further his career, he couldn't do both.

He wasn't even given any reassurance of his selection in first grade, especially with the level of back rowers we have.

Cleary and gould said, if he hits is KPI's, he'll be in first grade, that's what swayed him, can't blame him.

You don't know how much he wanted to stay, trust me on that! He still talks about it now.

But in the end he was offered good money & didnt stay. Maybe not as much. If he left becasue of that, I completely understand. 20 grand to a young bloke is a huge amount.
Cleary & Gould say if he hits hi KPI's hell be in first grade.
Jack gibson used to say the same thing, except he worded it like this. " If you are good enough, you will be selected when an opportunty comes up. The position is yours then to lose."
The age of entitlement is offensive.

Only training there. Doubt very much he will play there. Surely they'd slot J Moz in and promote Lichaa?

Nothing new to see here folks. Politics just meaning the way the team is run.

I posted my opinion on both forums way before team selection and that was, and still is, that there was no way 13 NRL game Leutele was going to picked over a combined almost 200 game combination of Wright and Ayshford.

Wasn't going to happen.

I hope our mini injury crisis is over after 4 rounds, when Tupou & Lewis return.

After that, no more please I ask, dear football gods.

Yeah but can Leutele run sideways as good as Jono.

Not many blokes in the NRL top grade run sideways like our Jono. He is the gun
